Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – With Austin Peay football players reporting this weekend, the 2014-15 athletic school year has officially begun, and with it there will be several new and old faces on the sidelines, courts and dugouts as they go there their seasons, as well as several coaching slots still to be filled.

One of the open spots just came open this past week, with men’s golf coach Kirk Kayden announcing that he would be leaving after almost 10 years at the helm to take the same position at Mercer University in Macon, GA.

APSU Volleyball adds Jami Thomas to coaching staff

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, Tn –  Austin Peay State University head volleyball coach Taylor Mott has announced that Jami Thomas will join her staff next season as a volunteer assistant coach.

Thomas, a Paola, Kansas native, brings 14 years of coaching experience to the Lady Govs staff. Most recently, she was the head varsity coach at Clarksville High School where she led the Wildcats to an 11-5 record and the District 10-AAA semifinals during the 2013 season.

Clarksville High School Coaches Host 7th and 8th Grade Volleyball Clinic

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Clarksville High Lady Wildcats volleyball coaches Jami Thomas and Lacey Browning will be directing a volleyball clinic for 7th and 8th graders from 5;30pm-7:30pm, Monday evenings on October 21st, 28th; November 4th and 18th.

“The primary focus of this middle school clinic will be fundamental skills,“ Thomas said. “Players can expect to improve on forearm passing, overhead passing, overhand serving, etc. These skills are the building block of any volleyball team. Our goal is that each player will walk away with skills that can earn them a position on a volleyball team.”

Clarksville High School Volleyball advances to District 10-AAA Semifinals with win over Kenwood High School

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsKenwood High SchoolClarksville, TN – Clarksville High School’s volleyball team earned a spot in the semifinal round of the District 10-AAA Tournament, October 3rd, as they defeated Kenwood High School 3-0, by scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-14.

The Lady Wildcats (11-4) will next face the winner of the Henry County High School-West Creek High School quarterfinal match – which was also played on October 3rd.

Rossview High School Lady Hawks defeat Clarksville High 3-0 in 10-AAA Volleyball

Rossview High School HawksClarksville, TN – The Rossview Lady Hawks continued their dominance of District 10-AAA volleyball, by defeating the Clarksville High Lady Wildcats on their own court 3-0 (25-6, 25-10, 25-12).

In addition to extending their undefeated streak, the win over the Lady Wildcats was also a birthday present to Lady Hawk’s head coach, Jennifer Garinger.

“They were strong. They wanted to come out here and beat Clarksville High,” Garinger said. “It’s my birthday too, so they said they were going to give me a win.”
