Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency welcomes New Wildlife Officers

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) officially welcomed 13 new wildlife officers during a commission ceremony held at Buffalo Ridge Wildlife Refuge in Humphreys County. Due to COVID-19 Copronavirus concerns, only a limited number TWRA officials and the graduates were in attendance.

The new TWRA officers and their assignment areas are Robert Badgett, Jr. (Sullivan County), Ethan Brown (Franklin County), Don Chance (Wildlife Manager, Oak Ridge WMA), Miranda Garner (Houston County), Parker Gerdes (Lake County), Gavin Henley (Perry County), Collin Jones (Johnson County), Rob Lewis (Wildlife Manager, Upper Obion River Complex), Jared Poore (Wildlife Manager, Lower Obion River Complex), Andrew Rutherford (Wildlife Manager, Forked Deer River Complex), Bethany Watson (Unicoi County), Brad Wheat (Wildlife Manager, Kentucky Lake Complex), and Andrew Weber (Hamilton County).

Tennessee Department of Education releases 2019 TNReady Results

 

Tennessee Department of EducationNashville, TN –  The Tennessee Department of Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn has released the TNReady assessment results which indicates that students across the state are performing better in almost all math subjects. 

The TNReady scores also show that more than half the schools in Tennessee – 56 percent – improved their growth scores (TVAAS scores) from the previous year, with 41 percent of all schools earning a level 4 or 5 TVAAS rating which measures year-to-year growth.

Tennessee Department of Health says Wildlife Rabies Vaccination Project Protects People and Pets

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Health is working with the United States Department of Agriculture to help prevent rabies by distributing oral rabies vaccine for wild raccoons along Tennessee’s borders with Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.

The annual baiting program administered by USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Services, will begin in Tennessee in October, 2018.

Tennessee Governor’s Books from Birth Bus Tour stops at Governor’s Square Mall on September 11th

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – The Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation (GBBF) launched its “Books from Birth 10th Anniversary Tour” on August 26th in Johnson County and it will conclude at the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville on September 30th, visiting some 50 counties across the state in a forty-five foot decorated touring coach.

The tour bus will visit Clarksville at the Food Court entrance to Governor’s Square Mall on Thursday, September 11th from 12:30pm to 2:00pm.

Tennessee Department of Agriculture reports Putnam County and Five additional East Tennessee Counties quarantined for Emerald ash borer

 

The Tennessee Department of AgricultureNashville, TN – A quarantine for Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive insect that destroys ash trees has been expanded to include another Middle Tennessee county and five more northeastern Tennessee counties. Putnam, Sullivan, Washington, Unicoi, Carter and Johnson counties have been added to the list of areas restricted for the movement of ash trees and ash tree products.

This brings the total number of Tennessee counties under a state and federal EAB quarantine to 27.

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – The 2012 State Junior (13-14) Baseball Tournament was in full swing Wednesday night, July 25th at the Clarksville National Fields. The 6:00pm game featured Grainger County and Spring Hill. Spring Hill won the game 13-0 in five innings of play.

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – he 2012 State Junior (13-14) Baseball Tournament continued Tuesday night, July 24th at the Clarksville National Fields. In the 6:00pm game, Smith County took on Spring Hill. Smith County pulled out the win in eight innings, 5-4.

Northwest lost to Johnson County Monday night in the State Junior (13-14) Baseball Tournament, 18-12

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Northwest locked horns with Johnson County at the 2012 State Junior (13-14) Baseball Tournament held Monday night, July 23rd at Clarksville National field. Johnson County loaded the bases in the top of the 1st with no outs.

Northwest’s pitcher Cortny Griffin struck out the next batter. Griffin then walked a batter and hit another. He then settled down and struck out the next two. Johnson County got two runs but left the bases loaded.

Johnson County beat Montgomery Central 8-2 Sunday night in the State Junior (13-14) Baseball Tournament

 

Clarksville National Little League is hosting the 2012 State Junior (13-14) Baseball Tournament

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Johnson County and Montgomery Central met in the 2012 State Junior (13-14) Baseball Tournament Sunday night, July 22nd at the Clarksville National fields. Montgomery Central jumped out early scoring a run in the 1st inning. Both teams failed to score in the 2nd inning. Montgomery Central push another run across the plate in the top of the 3rd.

In the bottom of the 4th, Johnson County loaded the bases with no outs. Brandon Vannoy then hit a double scoring two. This opened things up for Johnson County as they went on to score five more runs in the inning.

Northwest loses to Spring Hill 11-3 in the State Junior (13-14) Baseball Tournament

 

Clarksville National Little League is hosting the 2012 State Junior (13-14) Baseball Tournament

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Northwest and Spring Hill faced off Saturday, July 21st at 6:00pm in the 2012 State Junior (13-14)

Baseball Tournament held at the Clarksville National fields. Springhill got things started scoring 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Northwest battled back scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st.

That’s when Spring Hill’s pitching kicked it into gear and held Northwest scoreless for the next five innings.

Spring Hill defeated Northwest Saturday night in Little League (13-14) State Tournament action.
