Vietnam Veterans of America held their annual Memorial Day Candlelight Vigil Sunday night, May 24th

 

Clarksville, TN – On Sunday, May 25th, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 396 held their annual Candlelight Vigil to remember the men and women who were left behind in Vietnam when American forces withdrew in 1975.

It is a solemn occasion when a nation gathers together to honor its soldiers, those who lived to come home, but even more importantly those who did not.

Nashville Sounds Drop Season Finale to Memphis Redbirds, 2-1

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds closed out their 2012 season with a 2-1 loss to the cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds in a Labor Day matinee in front of 3,599 fans at Greer Stadium.

The Memphis win completed the Redbirds’ four-game sweep of the Sounds, marking the fourth time that Nashville was swept in a series this season.

Nashvile (67-77), which went 4-4 on its season-ending homestand after sweeping the Iowa Cubs during the first of the two series, finished the season with just the 13th losing record in the club’s 35-year history.

Nashville Sounds Lose third straight game to Memphis Redbirds 10-1

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Brock Peterson hit a pair of two-run homers to power the cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds to a 10-1 rout of the Nashville Sounds in the penultimate game of the season on Sunday evening at Greer Stadium.

After sweeping the Iowa Cubs to begin the eight-game homestand, Nashville (67-76) has dropped the first three contests of the four-game series to Memphis.

Nashville Sounds lose in 10 Innings to Memphis Redbirds 5-4

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds defeated the Sounds for the second straight evening, recording a 5-4, 10-inning victory over Nashville in front of 7,888 fans on Saturday evening at Greer Stadium.

The loss was Nashville’s second in a row following the club’s season-best five-game winning streak.

In the top of the tenth, Steven Hill got things started when he drew a one-out walk from Sounds reliever Juan Perez (4-2). Brock Peterson followed with a potential double-play grounder to shortstop but Edwin Maysonet airmailed Taylor Green at second base to allow runners on the corners with just one out.

Boggs, Carroll Power Sounds Past Memphis, 5-3

 

Nashville Outfielders Each Blast Two Homers In Victory

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – Brandon Boggs and Brett Carroll each belted a pair of home runs to power the Nashville Sounds to a 5-3 victory over the cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds on Sunday evening at AutoZone Park.

With the victory, the Sounds (31-38) snapped a two-game skid and brought an end to the Redbirds’ six-game winning streak.

Boggs (2-for-4) homered from both sides of the plate in the contest, going deep from the right side of the plate in the first and from the left side in the eighth. Carroll (3-for-4) extended his longest hit streak of the year to nine games with his two-homer effort. Their feats marked the ninth and tenth two-homer efforts posted by Nashville batters this season.

Sounds Suffer Extra-Inning Loss In Memphis For Second Straight Night

 

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – Shortstop Donovan Solano hit a game-winning double in the bottom of the 10th inning to propel the state-rival Memphis Redbirds over the Nashville Sounds, 7-6, on Saturday night at AutoZone Park. The loss was the second consecutive extra-inning defeat to the Redbirds.

With the game knotted at 6-6 in the bottom of the 10th, Sounds reliever Zack Segovia (2-3) allowed two singles in the frame before giving up the game-winning double off of the centerfield wall.
