Roxy Regional Theatre’s “Dames At Sea” drops anchor June 22nd-July 7th

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – New York salutes Hollywood this summer at the Roxy Regional Theatre located at the corner of Franklin Street and First Street in historic downtown Clarksville.

A celebration of the golden era of movie musicals, “Dames At Sea” opens at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, June 22nd, at 8:00pm. In keeping with the theatre’s traditional pay-what-you-can opening night, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price will go on sale at 7:30pm that evening for a $5.00 minimum donation.

Roxy Regional Theatre presents Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin in the Sun”, February 9th – February 24th

 

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – “What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like “A Raisin in the Sun”?” In 1959, with her landmark play inspired in part by the preceding lines from Langston Hughes’ poem “Harlem,” Lorraine Hansberry made history as the first black female playwright to have her work produced on Broadway.

In celebration of Black History Month, the Roxy Regional Theatre brings Hansberry’s award-winning classic “A Raisin in the Sun” to the corner of Franklin and First in Historic Downtown Clarksville, February 9th through February 24th.

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – This summer, beat the heat and come on down to Truvy’s beauty shop, where the motto is “there is no such thing as natural beauty” and all the ladies who are “anybody” come to have their hair done.  The Roxy Regional Theatre presents Robert Harling’s stage hit “Steel Magnolias”, July 28th through August 19th, 2017.

Directed by Ryan Bowie, the beloved comedy-drama which inspired the 1989 film starring Dolly Parton, Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis and Daryl Hannah centers on the bond among a group of six Southern women at a small-town beauty shop in northwest Louisiana.

“SEUSSICAL: The Musical” brings Dr. Seuss Favorites to life at the Roxy Regional Theatre, March 17th – April 8th

 

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – Children across the nation recently celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss with Read Across America Day. The Roxy Regional Theatre continues the celebration in Historic Downtown Clarksville with the staging of “SEUSSICAL: The Musical”, opening this Friday, March 17th, and continuing through April 8th.

Kendall Adaire Payne stars as The Cat in the Hat in this musical extravaganza that is sure to entertain the entire family.
 
“The Cat in the Hat is the narrative host who guides the audience through the show,” Payne said. “He pops up here and there and pretty much everywhere, usually out of nowhere, with comedic blurbs.”

Roxy Regional Theatre presents a Musical Journey through the ’30s with the “Kit Kat Club”, August 26th – September 10th

 

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – Despite global panic in the 1930s, people found themselves rallying the only way they knew how — through music.  Famed composer of the period Ira Gershwin once said, “A song without music is a lot like H2 without the O.”

Leading in to Season 34, the Roxy Regional Theatre is presenting a musical journey through the decade, cabaret style, with the new musical revue “Kit Kat Club”, August 26th – September 10th.

Created by Ryan Bowie and Sidney McCarty and directed by Bowie, this new musical revue is being presented as part of the Roxy’s “On The Terrazzo” Series, which features performances in the intimate setting of the theatre’s lobby.

The Awesome 80’s Prom Dances Through the Roxy Regional Theatre

 

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – Written by Ken Davenport, “The Awesome 80’s Prom” at the Roxy Regional Theatre featured a cast that sparkled through the music of the era with not only audience participation throughout but sizzling singing and dancing.

Joe Filippo as Mr. Richard “Dick” Snelgrove, the principal, attempted to keep the boisterous cast in line as Stephanie Stafford as Mrs. Patty Lascalzo (or Mrs. L, the drama teacher) announced irrelevant interruptions such as the Alabama car parked in the wrong spot.

Roxy Regional Theatre’s production of “Blues in the Night” kicks off tonight, February 5th

 

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – The scorching Tony-nominated musical revue “Blues in the Night” opens at the Roxy Regional Theatre tonight, Friday, February 5th, at 8:00pm. The universal language of the blues will wail out full and strong on the corner of Franklin and First in downtown Clarksville through February.
