APSU Baseball rallies in the ninth to beat Kansas State, 4-2

APSU BaseballManhattan, KS – Third baseman Malcolm Tipler‘s sacrifice fly in the ninth inning broke a tie and Austin Peay State University’s baseball team held on for a 4-2 nonconference victory against Kansas State, Wednesday afternoon at Tointon Family Stadium.

With the game tied 2-2, Austin Peay (14-8) saw its first two batters of the ninth inning reach base, one courtesy a Kansas State defensive miscue.

APSU Baseball falls to Kansas State, 15-10

APSU BaseballManhattan,  KS – Catcher Alex Sala hit his season’s first home run and Austin Peay State University’s baseball team pounded out 18 hits but it wasn’t enough in a 15-10 nonconference loss to Kansas State, Tuesday night at Tointon Family Stadium. 

For the fourth straight game, Austin Peay (13-8) found itself trailing after the first inning. Kansas State batted in four runs in the bottom of the first – three scoring on designated hitter Jordan Maxson’s single aided by a Governors error.

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Fresh off a weekend sweep, Austin Peay’s baseball team begins a five-game road trip when it visits Kansas State for a contests both Tuesday and Wednesday at Tointon Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas.

The two-game midweek series is scheduled to begin with a 6:30pm, Tuesday contest followed by a noon, Wednesday meeting. Both games can be seen on ESPN3

One Gov whose career certainly moved forward in 2017 was Grant Leaver. The 2016 APSU Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee blew through the SwingThought Tour this season, winning the points race (24,481), leading the national series in winnings ($31,170) and winning “The 44”, SwingThought’s sponsorship element for the Web.com Tour’s qualifying school.

APSU selects Travis Janssen as 11th head Baseball Coach

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TNTravis Janssen, who revived a Northeastern State (Oklahoma) program as head coach in between two stints as the top assistant at Jacksonville State, has been hired as Austin Peay State University’s new head baseball coach.

Janssen replaces Gary McClure, who resigned in August. The Manhattan, KS, native becomes APSU’s 11th head baseball coach but only second since 1988.
