Instant Peay Play: Governors graduating class left their marks in their time at APSU

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – A lot of hard work and years of dreams came true for 23 Austin Peay State University student-athletes and coaches December 11th, as they participated in the school’s two commencement ceremonies at the Dunn Center, earning either bachelor’s or master’s degrees.

Overall, eight different teams – including dance team and cheer squad – had members receive degrees, led by baseball (5), football, men’s tennis and dance (4), soccer and cross country/track and field two each, while cheer and women’s tennis had one graduate each.

APSU Governors Baseball concludes Red-White World Series

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Three runs in an error-filled inning was enough for the White Team to secure a 3-1 victory and complete a sweep of Austin Peay State University baseball team’s three-game Red-White World Series, Sunday, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The Red Squad scored the game’s first run in the second inning, gaining its first lead of the series. First baseman Dre Gleason led off the inning with a single and would score three batters later on right fielder Matt Meadows’ groundout.

APSU Baseball plays annual Red-White World Series Friday

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will put a bow on its fall schedule when it plays the annual Red-White World series. This season’s three-game intrasquad series begins with a 6:00pm, Friday contest and continues with contests both Saturday and Sunday at Raymond C. Hand Park. Admission is free to each game of the series.

Govs add closer Tyler Rogers to 2012 Roster

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team has signed its closer for the 2012 season, adding Tyler Rogers, of Littleton, CO, to a national letter of intent it announced, Monday.

Rogers, a 6-1, 180-pound right-handed pitcher, is one of the best closers in the National Junior College Athletic Association, ranking third nationally with 10 saves for head coach Chris Finnegan. He also has a 5-1 record with a 1.62 ERA in 26 appearances this season, compiling 41 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University head coach Gary McClure has announced Brett Carlson, of South Bend, IN, has signed a letter of intent.

Carlson, a 6-1 shortstop and pitcher, opened his 2011 season at Riley High School with a 3-for-3, four-RBI outing that included two home runs and a triple. He finished his junior campaign with a .321 batting average, 15 RBI and eight stolen bases. «Read the rest of this article»
