Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University held its Spring Commencement ceremonies, May 8th at the Dunn Center, with 43 Governors and Lady Govs athletes not only picking up their respective degrees, but also leaving a legacy of success during their time on campus.

The 42 graduating athletes represented 12 of 14 teams at Austin Peay, with only the women’s cross country and tennis teams not having any team member graduate this spring.

Instant Peay Play: Marco Iten and Breigh Jones reaching NCAA finals highlight Austin Peay State University Athletic Department’s 2014

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – With the 2014 calendar coming to an end this week, there were several highlights over the past 12 months for the Austin Peay Athletic Department, but topping the list has to be the NCAA Championship appearances by Marco Iten in Men’s golf and Breigh Jones in women’s outdoor track and field.

Iten, a senior, would start his run to the NCAA men’s golf championships by winning Ohio Valley Conference medalist honors by a shot, which earned his a spot in the NCAA Regional in Auburn, AL.

Austin Peay State University posts best-ever finish in Sports Director’s Cup

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – Thanks to an impressive spring burst, Austin Peay State University finished the 2012-13 campaign with its best-ever finish in the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup.

The Govs used national tournament appearances in baseball, men’s golf and men’s tennis to post a total of 108.5 points, good for 151st nationally. It topped the program’s 167th-place finish in 1995-96 – a season that also saw three teams reach the NCAA tournament.

49 APSU Student Athletes Receive Degrees

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – A record 1,222 students were conferred degrees, Friday, as Austin Peay State University held its 84th Spring Commencement in the Dunn Center and 49 of those were Govs and Lady Govs student-athletes.

The morning commencement saw students earn degrees from the College of Arts and Letters, the College of Science and Mathematics and the School of Technology and Public Management will participate in commencement.

Austin Peay State University Governors tennis extends win streak to eight with victory over Morehead State

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team ran its win streak to eight in a row, when the Govs defeated Morehead State, 6-1, Sunday. With the win, Austin Peay sweeps its Ohio Valley Conference-opening weekend for the third consecutive year.

Austin Peay State University trails in OVC Commissioner’s Cup All-Sport trophy

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN – After the completion of the winter sport championships, Eastern Illinois University has taken the lead in the 2012-13 Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Cup all-sport trophy standings; the Cup is a symbol of overall athletic excellence in Conference-sponsored championships.
