My Two-Cents with Hank BonecutterClarksville, TN – The most recent news concerning the Montgomery County Animal Control Department is still sad.  Nothing seems to have changed since the termination of previous director, Karen Josephson.  This department continues to be a “no-win” situation for everybody, and animals die everyday because of it.

Forward expansion: Forward Operating Base Dehdadi II stands up food court, PX

101st Sustainment Brigade - LifelinersFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionBalkh Province, Afghanistan – A little over a year ago, Forward Operating Base Dehdadi II was beginning to come to life: the walls were constructed, the tents rose, and the soldiers moved in.

Now that the groundwork is laid, more amenities are reaching the service members assigned to FOB Dehdadi II. Over the next few weeks, Army and Air Force Exchange Services will arrive and open up at the base.

Army and Air Force Exchange Service in slated to open a post exchange and food court on Forward Operating Base Dehdadi II. The first of the stores, a Green Beans Coffee and Subway, are scheduled to open for the Fourth of July, and the post exchange will open the following month. (Sgt. 1st Class Peter Mayes)

MWR Holds Abandoned Vehicle Auction

 

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY –In these tough economic times, it is important to save money and take advantage of a bargain. Air Assault Auto is having an Abandoned Vehicle Auction July 31st, 2010 at the lot on 5300 Airborne Street and Tennessee Avenue.

Registration begins at 8:00am and the auction starts at 9:00am. Participants must be at least 12 years of age to attend, and at least 18 to bid.

USAA Free Bowling at Hooper Bowling Center

 

USAA Celebrates the End of Summer with a Free Day of Bowling

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY — Do you like to bowl? How about bowling for free? Thanks to USAA, on July 31st from 9:00am until 6:00pm you can bowl for free. Shoe rental is also free during this time.

This is a great opportunity for Soldiers, Families, Retirees and Civilians to experience all that the Hooper Bowling Center and Restaurant has to offer: everything from a Pro Shop to electronic Bingo, to great tasting food and beverages. To top it all off, Purity Ice Cream will be on site to hand out ice cream samples. Additional food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Fort Campbell celebrates Independence Day

Fort Campbell commemorates the nation’s 234th birthday with a carnival, fireworks and country music.

The Independence Week Carnival, presented by USAA and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, begins Wednesday at 5:00pm and wraps up July 5th at 4:00pm at the Division Parade Field.

This year’s festivities include carnival rides and games provided by Belle City Amusements. An Independence Day fireworks display, as well as plenty of food and more than 20 games of skill, promise fun for the entire Family.

Ride tickets will be available for $1.00 each, with 25 tickets for $20.00. Opening day is Dollar Day at the carnival, with a $1.00 charge per ride. Attendees can also purchase armbands, which allow them to ride all the rides as much as they want for one price. «Read the rest of this article»

Celebration of lights at Fort Campbell

 

Fort Campbell’s Annual Celebration of Holiday Lights will be held Thursday at 4:45 p.m. at McAuliffe Hall. The event will have music by the 101st Airborne Division Band, Santa Claus, caroling and holiday surprises for children age 10 and younger.
