Lady Govs head to Edwardsville, IL, for third Fall Tournament

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – After a week away from competition, Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will return to action, Monday and Tuesday, at the SIUE Intercollegiate, presented by Double Tree.

The 36-hole tournament will see 18 holes played each day on the par-72, 5,936-yard Sunset Hills Country Club course in Edwardsville, IL.

Stark named CIAF Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversityDevin StarkClarksville, TN – Devin Stark, a junior on the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Memphis native impressed as he returned home, Saturday, setting career highs in both catches and yards, with nine catches for 107 yards. On the young season Stark has 13 catches for 168 yards, he had a total of 19 catches in 10 games last season. «Read the rest of this article»

Rain forces cancellation of final round of Chris Banister Golf Classic

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsHuntsville, AL – Rain proved the eventual winner of the Chris Banister Golf Classic, played at Hampton Cove’s Highland Course.

Lady Govs 2011-12 Golf Schedule

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will play a familiar tournament schedule in the 2011-12 season.

The Lady Govs will be participating in 11 tournaments in 2011-12—six in the fall and five in the spring. Only the Lady Govs’ spring break tournament schedule is still to be determined.

The remaining 10 tournaments, culminating with the Ohio Valley Conference championship, April 21st-24th, at Greystone in Dickson, are all events APSU has played in recent years, beginning September 4th at the JSU Chris Banister Golf Classic in Glencoe, AL.

Lady Govs golf heads to Ohio for second fall tourney

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsBatavia, OH – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will participate in its second fall golf tourney when its travels to Batavia, Ohio, Monday and Tuesday, to play in the University of Cincinnati Invitational.

The two-day, 54-hole tourney (36 holes, Monday; 18 holes, Tuesday) will be played on the par-72, 6,136-yard Elks Run Golf Course.

The extremely competitive tourney will feature a pair of Ohio Valley Conference rivals, Morehead State and Murray State, along with host Cincinnati (2 teams), Akron, Evansville, Florida International, Marshall, Memphis, Ohio, Penn State, Robert Morris, Southern Mississippi, Toledo and University of Texas-Pan American. Conceivably, this could be one of the most competitive tournament’s the Lady Govs have appeared in years.

Harris fires 72 to finish in third place in MSU Drake Creek Invitational

Austin Peay State University GovernorsLedbetter, KY – Chelsea Harris shot a final-round even-par 72, Tuesday, to finish in third place at the MSU Drake Creek Invitational, played at the 6,178-yard Drake Creek Golf Club.

The 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, Harris reached even par on literally an up-and-down day—Harris’ 18 holes fashioned seven birdies but also seven bogeys to go with four pars. The senior led the Lady Govs to their tourney low Tuesday, a 307.

But as a team the Lady Govs could not move up.  They opened the day in sixth place and ended the day in sixth, finishing the 54-hole tourney at 940, one stroke behind Belmont.

Lady Govs golf to open Fall season at MSU Drake Creek Invitational

 

APSU Women’s Golf

Austin Peay State University GovernorsAustin Peay State University women’s golf team will open the 2010 Fall season with a short trip to Paducah, KY, Monday and Tuesday, to play in MSU Drake Creek Invitational.

The Murray State-hosted event will see eight teams play 54 hole over Monday and Tuesday on the 6,178-yard, par-72 event. In addition to the Lady Govs and the Lady Racers, Ohio Valley Conference foes Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State and Tennessee Tech will be there along with Belmont, Western Kentucky and Lipscomb.

The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.

The Lady Govs will be taking all nine players, with five competing as part of the Lady Govs’ team while the other four will play as individuals.
