APSU Sports: Women’s Golf
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will play a familiar tournament schedule in the 2011-12 season.
The Lady Govs will be participating in 11 tournaments in 2011-12—six in the fall and five in the spring. Only the Lady Govs’ spring break tournament schedule is still to be determined.
The remaining 10 tournaments, culminating with the Ohio Valley Conference championship, April 21st-24th, at Greystone in Dickson, are all events APSU has played in recent years, beginning September 4th at the JSU Chris Banister Golf Classic in Glencoe, AL.

Although all tournaments are familiar to the Lady Govs, one change will occur with their own event. The F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, normally played in conjunction with the men’s tournament by the same name, will be played not only earlier (October 10th-11th), but as well at a different venue, the Links of Novadell. With the Clarksville Country Club greens being replaced this fall, the Lady Govs had to seek a new tourney venue.
“We had to move our event for this year to the Links of Novadell because Clarksville Country Club was planning on re-doing their greens,” Robson said. “We are excited to host at Novadell and very appreciative of all they do for our program. The field is not yet set, but I am confident we will continue our tradition of having an outstanding (tournament) field.”
The fall slate also will include the MSU Drake Creek Invitational (September 12th-13th) and the SIUE Intercollegiate hosted by DoubleTree (September 26th-27th) before the F&M event. The Lady Govs will wrap up the fall schedule with the Memphis Women’s Fall Invitational (October 24th-25th) and the UAB Fall Beach Blast (October 31st-November 1st).
The spring schedule will see the Lady Govs open with a spring break tournament in early March before heading to Carbondale, IL, for the Saluki Invitational (March 25th-26th) and then the Belmont Invitational (April 1st-3rd) and the EKU Lady Colonel Classic (April 6th-7th). That will lead up to the OVC tournament later in the month.
