Four inducted into APSU Athletics Hall of Fame Class Saturday

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Four Austin Peay State University athletic legends were enshrined in the APSU Athletics Hall of Fame, Saturday, during a breakfast ceremony in the Dunn Center front lobby.

Chelsea Harris, the greatest women’s golfer in program history; Drake Reed, an all-time great who conquered the OVC during one of the most dominant eras of APSU basketball; and Ron Sebree, a vaunted lineman for the 1977 Ohio Valley Conference football team, were inducted along with the late Tom Lincoln, a star on the hardwood and the gridiron in the late 1940s, who was this year’s Honors category recipient.

They became the 115th, 116th, 117th and 118th members of the APSU Athletic Hall of Fame.

Lady Govs take fourth in F&M; Deaton collects Top 5 finish

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsHopkinsville, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team couldn’t match Monday’s school record-tying round, but the Lady Govs still played well enough to end in fourth place at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, played in near-perfect conditions, Tuesday, at The Links at Novadell.

The Lady Govs, who entered the day in fourth after shooting a 300 Monday, shot a 303 for a 603 total, Tuesday, to edge out Belmont (604) for fourth.

Ryan Named CIAF APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversityJake RyanClarksville, TN – Jake Ryan, a junior on the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The arm of the junior quarter back helped carry the Governors to a come from behind victory over Tennessee State, Saturday. The Knoxville native threw for two touchdowns and a career-high 314 yards on 21-of-41 passing. Lauren Bond named OVC Women’s Golf of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Junior transfer Lauren Bond has been named Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week.

The Marion, IL, native carded rounds of 83-79 to finish at 162 (+18) and take home fifth-place honors at the SIUE Intercollegiate, presented by DoubleTree.

The event was held Monday and Tuesday at the Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville, IL, and featured two other OVC schools, host Southern Illinois Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois. «Read the rest of this article»

Lady Govs golf finishes second at SIUE Intercollegiate

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsEdwardsville, IL – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team shaved 13 strokes off its first-round score to finish second, Tuesday, in the SIUE Intercollegiate, presented by Double Tree.

Led by junior Lauren Bond, the Lady Govs fired a final-round 325 to end at 663 on the Sunset Hills Country Club course. APSU actually tied with host Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for second but earned the second position because of a higher fifth-position score. Southern Illinois Carbondale won the event with a 632.

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – After a week away from competition, Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will return to action, Monday and Tuesday, at the SIUE Intercollegiate, presented by Double Tree.

The 36-hole tournament will see 18 holes played each day on the par-72, 5,936-yard Sunset Hills Country Club course in Edwardsville, IL.

Lady Govs 2011-12 Golf Schedule

 

APSU Sports: Women’s Golf

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will play a familiar tournament schedule in the 2011-12 season.

The Lady Govs will be participating in 11 tournaments in 2011-12—six in the fall and five in the spring. Only the Lady Govs’ spring break tournament schedule is still to be determined.

The remaining 10 tournaments, culminating with the Ohio Valley Conference championship, April 21st-24th, at Greystone in Dickson, are all events APSU has played in recent years, beginning September 4th at the JSU Chris Banister Golf Classic in Glencoe, AL.

Harris earns first-team All-OVC golf for third straight

 

APSU Women’s Golf

Austin Peay State University GovernorsDickson, TN – Senior Austin Peay State University golfer Chelsea Harris has selected first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference for a third straight year.

Her selection was announced Thursday night at the annual banquet following first-round OVC tournament play, for a second straight year being played at GreyStone Golf Club.

Murray State’s Delaney Howson has been named the 2010-11 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year for women’s golf. That award, along with the All-OVC and All-Newcomer squads, were announced Thursday. The OVC Player and Coach of the Year awards will be announced Saturday afternoon following the final-round play at the championship.

Harris captures medalist honors at SIUE golf event

 

APSU Women’s Golf

Austin Peay State University GovernorsEdwardsville, IL – Austin Peay State University senior golfer Chelsea Harris fired a final-round 72 to run away with medalist honors, Tuesday, at the SIUE Intercollegiate presented by DoubleTree, played at Sunset Hills Country Club.

Harris finished at 149 to ease past Western Illinois’ Emily Brink (153). It was Harris’ third career tourney championship, including last season’s Ohio Valley Conference tourney title. She has had 10 career top five finishes, including all three tournaments this season.
