Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University choral activities celebrates the grand finale of the choral season with the biggest collection of vocal talent to date in the fourth annual “The Big Sing.”
On April 11th at 5:30pm, upwards of 170 singers from APSU, Mt. Juliet High School and Station Camp High School will join together at the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall on the University campus in a free performance of a wide range of vocal compositions.
Clarksville, TN – Teal Young knocked down five 3s on his way to a game-high 23 points, Tuesday, February 24th, at William Workman Gymnasium, to lead Clarksville High School to a 70-48 Region 5-AAA Tournament quarterfinal victory over Gallatin High School.
It was back-to-back 3s midway through the opening quarter by Young that gave the Wildcats (15-11) a 10-9 lead after Gallatin had scored six straight points to take its biggest lead of the game, 9-4.
Clarksville, TN – The Mount Juliet Golden Bears rallied in the fourth quarter to overcome an eight-point deficit and slay the Kenwood Knights, 48-45, in the Region 5-AAA tournament quarterfinals Tuesday night at Kenwood High School.
After outscoring the Bears 11-7 in the third quarter, the Knights went into the final quarter with a 37-29 lead. However, the Knights made just one field goal in the fourth quarter. Their only other points in the last eight minutes came from 6-of-10 shooting at the free throw line.
Clarksville, TN – After a week of weather delays, and the Region 5-AAA Basketball Tournament looming, the District 10-AAA Basketball Tournament championship and consolation games have been cancelled.
With the cancellation, Rossview High School girls basketball team will be declared the tournament champions, followed by Henry County High School, Clarksville High School and West Creek High finishing second through fourth place.
Clarksville, TN – For the first time in school history, the Rossview Hawks boys soccer team hosted the Region 5-AAA Finals against the 2013 Region Champion Mount Juliet Golden Bears Thursday, May 15th.
The home field did not help the Hawks withstand the Golden Bears offensive attack. The Golden Bears captured their second Region Championship in a row, defeating the Hawks 3-1.
The Golden Bears frontline pressed the Hawks most of the game. Their speed kept the Hawks on the defensive. Rossview was beat to the ball and lost most of the one-on-one battles.
Clarksville, TN – Rossview High School’s soccer team got a goal from Marco Rodriquez in the 14th minute of overtime, May 13th, to cap a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Station Camp High School, in the opening round of the Region 5-AAA tournament.
With the victory, Rossview (14-3-4) has earned the school’s first berth into the TSSAA Sectional tournament since the 2005 season, while also earning the right to host Mt. Juliet High School at 7:00p.m. on May 15th in the Region 5-AAA finals — the first time the Hawks have hosted the region finals in school history.
Clarksville, TN – Trailing for the first time this season with its ace Donny Everett on the mound, May 12th in the opening round of the Region 5-AAA tournament, Clarksville High School’s baseball team rallied to defeat the Beech High School Buccaneers 5-3 to reach the regional finals.
The victory also earns the Wildcats (29-5) a berth into the May 16th Sectional Tournament, where a win puts them into the TSSAA State Tournament field.
But it didn’t look early on like it may be the Wildcats night, with the Buccaneers (18-18) putting up single runs in both the first and third innings off Everett (11-0) – both coming off doubles by Isaac Robertson, driving in Jared Knight in the first and Jesse McKay in the third.
Clarksville, TN – Rossview High School’s boys soccer team has been one of the upper-level teams in District 10-AAA since the school opened, but never winning back-to-back district titles.
That is until now, as the Hawks (13-3-4) made it make-to-back tournament titles with a 2-0, May 8th, victory over West Creek High School.
“I couldn’t be prouder of this group of boys,” Rossview coach Danny Chartrand said. “I’ve been telling anyone that would lesson that we’re 16 or 17 (players) deep and they’re genuinely not selfish and understand what the team is and they’re willing to play the minutes, do what we ask them to do, no matter where it is on the field. «Read the rest of this article»
Clarksville, TN – On paper, the Rossview Lady Hawks and the Mt. Juliet Lady Bears look a lot alike. They both have smothering defenses, smart guards and a dominating post game.
As a result, the Region 5-AAA Tournament Championship game at Rossview Wednesday, February 26th, a showdown between two district number one seeds, came down to which team executed their game better.
They advanced to the tournament semifinals after defeating the Gallatin Green Wave by 24 points. On Tuesday, February 25th at Rossview High School, the Knights leveled the Mt. Juliet Bears, 60-38, and earned their spot in the championship game.
Jimario Rivers led the charge against the Bears. He earned a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds.
