Clarksville’s Customs House Museum to have Celebrity Photographer Raeanne Rubenstein talk about Andy Warhol April 8th

 

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – The Customs House is exhibiting a suite of Andy Warhol portraits by renowned photographer Raeanne Rubenstein. Rubenstein’s exhibit, The Fascinating Mr. Warhol, is on display through May 4th.

The artist will be speaking about her experiences and her friendship with Mr. Warhol in a gallery talk on Tuesday, April 8th. The event, which begins at 7:00pm, is free to the public.

Clarksville Police DUI Arrests for March 18th-March 23rd, 2013

 

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – In an effort to bring more attention to drivers that drink and drive, the Clarksville Police Department is consolidating and publishing the circumstances which lead to the DUI arrest. They are arrests, not convictions.

The week started off great and there were no DUIs from the 18th to the 23rd , then things went downhill. There were a total of 15 for the week.

Karsh exhibit at the Customs House Museum is being extended

 

The Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterDue to popular demand, the exhibit Yousuf Karsh: Master of the Photographic Portrait has been extended through January 17th at the Customs House Museum. The suite of fifteen portraits by Karsh has never before been available for public viewing. The collection, which is available for purchase, is on loan from Haynes Galleries, Franklin, Tennessee.

Yousuf Karsh was known as the master of studio lighting. He had a gift for capturing the essence of his subject. Throughout his career, Karsh used a 1940s 8 x 10 bellows Calumet camera. One of his trademark techniques was to light the subject’s hands separately.

His portrait of Winston Churchill catapulted Karsh to fame when it was sold to Life magazine. This portrait is included in the museum’s exhibit. Also included are Albert Einstein, Pablo Picasso, Muhammad Ali, and others.
