101st Combat Aviation Brigade “Wings of Destiny” uncases Colors at Fort Campbell

 

Wings of DestinyFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – During a short ceremony on Tuesday the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade uncase the colors signifying the completion of their return to Fort Campbell after a nine-month deployment in RC East and RC North in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 2012–13.

Brig. Gen. Mark R. Stammer, the Acting Senior Commander of Fort Campbell officiated the ceremony which was hosted by Col. Paul Bontrager, the commander of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade.

Fort Campbell 101st Combat Aviation Brigade “Wings of Destiny” Soldiers Return Home

 

Wings of DestinyFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Soldiers from 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) reunited with their Families at a welcome home ceremony at Fort Campbell, KY, May 22nd, 2013.

The Ceremony marked the end of a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Regional Command – East. This ceremony marks the return of the entire brigade.

Fort Campbell’s 101st Combat Aviation Brigade assumes mission in Afghanistan

Bagram, Afghanistan – The 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade transferred authority to the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade during a transfer of authority ceremony at Combined Joint Task Force- 1 headquarters, Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, on September 18th, 2012.

The 101st CAB, from Fort Campbell, KY, is now charged with providing full spectrum aviation support to Regional Command East. They will play a key role in providing combat, logistical and medical evacuation support to coalition forces.

Austin Peay State University to celebrate 40-year anniversary of the ROTC

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In 1971, the U.S. Army established at Austin Peay State University the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) for recruiting, training and commissioning future Army officers.

In the 40 years since, hundreds of cadets have been commissioned at APSU as second lieutenants in the Army. The program also has earned the reputation as one of the nation’s finest, having won several awards for training and management performance standards. 101st Combat Aviation Brigade Welcomes New Commander

 

Wings of DestinyFort Campbell, KY – The 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) held a change of command ceremony on Friday June 24th, 2011, Col. William K. Gayler relinquished command to Col. Paul Bontrager before the entire brigade.

Gayler has commanded the 101st CAB since 2009. During his tenure, the brigade deployed to southern Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Under Gayler’s command, the brigade provided Army aviation support for U.S. and NATO operations in Regional Command-South, West and Southwest from February 2010 to March 2011.
