Clarksville High Lady Wildcats Softball romps over Northeast Lady Eagles 16-6, Force Game Three

One day ago, the Clarksville Lady Wildcats waged a seven-inning battle against the Northeast Lady Eagles, both teams combining to score three runs and the Lady Wildcats losing 2-1.

A day later, on Wednesday, May 7th, the Lady Wildcats had to defeat the Kenwood Lady Knights to get a rematch against the Lady Eagles and possibly force a third game to determine the 2014 District 10-AAA Tournament Champion.

Clarksville Lady Wildcats Defeat Northeast Lady Eagles 4-0, Clinch District 10-AAA Regular Season Title

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – The Clarksville High Lady Wildcats defeated the Northeast Lady Eagles 4-0 Thursday, April 24th, and clinched the District 10-AAA regular season title.

The Lady Wildcats scored three runs in the first inning. Although they added one more run in the seventh, Heather Norris made sure the first three was all they needed by pitching a shutout.

Norris struck out 11 and allowed just four hits in the Lady Wildcats 13th conference win of the season. Norris’ catcher, Haley Bearden, slugged bombs into the outfield all day, batting 2-for-4 with a single and a 2 RBI double.

Clarksville High Softball beats Kenwood 12-2; now one win away 10-AAA regular-season title

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Despite only one District 10-AAA loss so far this season, Clarksville High School’s softball team went into this week needing to defeat both of its two closest challengers to wrap up the regular-season title.

Well, the Lady Wildcats (26-13, 12-1 District 10-AAA) are half way to that goal after their April 22nd 12-2 victory over Kenwood High School.

Clarksville High jumped on Kenwood (11-10, 8-3 District 10-AAA) starter Imani Largin in the first inning, as Heather Norris drew a walk to open the game and move to third base an out later on a single by Haley Bearden.

Clarksville High Lady Wildcats softball beats Kenwood Lady Knights 3-1

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – The Clarksville High Lady Wildcats won a District 10-AAA match up against the Kenwood Lady Knights, 3-1, at home Thursday, April 17th.

A defensive lapse allowed Kenwood’s Imani Largin to steal home to give her team a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. However, that would be the only run allowed by the Lady Wildcats.

Conversely, the Lady Wildcats plated two runs in the third and Peyton Wilson hit a solo homer 205 feet over the left field fence in the fifth.

Clarksville High Lady Wildcats Softball use small-ball to beat Northeast Lady Eagles

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Clarksville High School’s softball team has gotten used to beating opponents by utilizing the home run this season, but March 31st versus Northeast High School it was playing the small-ball game that got the job done, with the Lady Wildcats defeating the Lady Eagles in their District 10-AAA matchup, 3-0.

Despite having several opportunities to score runs earlier in the game, Clarksville High (16-7, 5-0 10-AAA) found itself in a scoreless tie with the Lady Eagles heading into the bottom of the sixth inning when Peyton Wilson drew a walk to start the inning.

Clarksville High Softball’s Heather Norris pitches Shutout win over Rossview

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Clarksville High Lady Wildcat starting pitcher Heather Norris struck out 13 on her way to an 18-0 shutout against the Rossview Lady Hawks.

Norris was lethal on the mound. She struck out 11 straight batters before Lady Hawk second basemen Halie Upchurch hit a line drive in the bottom of the fourth inning for a single.

Upchurch was left stranded at first when Norris closed the inning with her 12th kill.
