Austin Peay is 0-8 overall and 0-6 in the OVC after a 41-21 loss on the road at Southeast Missouri in their last game.

APSU Football - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University football team totaled 500 yards of offense for the first time since 2006, but came seven points short, 41-34, of completing a comeback against Mercer, Saturday, at Fortera Stadium.

The Governors scored twice in 33 seconds late in the fourth quarter, both cutting the deficit to a touchdown.

Austin Peay State University Football announces kickoff time for season-opener at Troy

APSU Football - Austin Peay State UniversityTroy, AL – Austin Peay State University football’s season-opener at Troy, September 3rd, will kick off at 5:00pm (CT) from Veterans Memorial Stadium.

This will be the 17th meeting between the schools in a series that dates back to 1947; the last meeting between the Governors and Trojans came in 2002.

Former APSU Football Coach Bill Schmitz Dies

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUTampa, FL – Former Austin Peay State University coach Bill Schmitz has died at the age of 59. His death was confirmed Monday following an apparent suicide jump from the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa.

A longtime coach, Schmitz had a lengthy coaching resume that included stops at Cincinnati, Rice, Vanderbilt and Eastern Michigan before getting his first head coaching job with the United States Coast Guard Academy.

APSU Athletics Director Dave Loos steps down after 16 years

 

Loos to remain Head Coach for Austin Peay Men’s Basketball

Dave LoosClarksville, TN – When Dave Loos was named Austin Peay State University Athletics Director in April 1997, he was one of a handful of basketball coaches who also served as CEO of his respective athletics department.

In 2006 after Fang Mitchell resigned his Coppin State athletics director’s duties to concentrate on his basketball coaching responsibilities, Loos was the last of a dying breed.
