NASA Hubble Space Telescope data reveals more Gas flowing into the Milky Way, than out

Greenbelt, MD – NASA says our Milky Way is a frugal galaxy. Supernovas and violent stellar winds blow gas out of the galactic disk, but that gas falls back onto the galaxy to form new generations of stars. In an ambitious effort to conduct a full accounting of this recycling process, astronomers were surprised to find a surplus of incoming gas.
“We expected to find the Milky Way’s books balanced, with an equilibrium of gas inflow and outflow, but 10 years of Hubble ultraviolet data has shown there is more coming in than going out,” said astronomer Andrew Fox of the Space Telescope Science Institute, Baltimore, Maryland, lead author of the study to be published in The Astrophysical Journal.
This illustration envisions the Milky Way galaxy’s gas recycling above and below its stellar disk. Hubble observes the invisible gas clouds rising and falling with its sensitive Cosmic Origins Spectrograph (COS) instrument. APSU Volleyball falls to Kansas State, Maryland, Saturday
Raleigh, NC – Junior Brooke Moore finished the day with 18 kills and junior Jenna Panning added 16 kills but the Austin Peay State University (APSU) volleyball team ended its stay at the Wolfpack Invitational by falling in four sets to Kansas State (17-25, 25-18, 10-25, 23-25) and three sets to Maryland (20-25, 19-25, 15-25), Saturday, at Reynolds Coliseum.

APSU Volleyball drops Friday match to North Carolina State
Raleigh, NC – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) volleyball team fell in a three-set decision (14-25, 13-25, 24-26) to host North Carolina State in the opening match of the Wolfpack Invitational, Friday afternoon at Reynolds Coliseum. APSU junior Jenna Panning had eight kills and two blocks for APSU.

APSU Volleyball opens season at Wolfpack Invitational
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) volleyball team opens its 2019 season with a weekend trip for three matches at the Wolfpack Invitational, Friday-Saturday, in Raleigh, North Carolina. The trip kicks off a five-week long, season-opening road trip for the Governors.

Clarksville, TN – Even though there is still five weeks left before the first official day of fall and one week until classes begin on campus, the athletic school year begins this week for Austin Peay State University (APSU) as the Governors kick-off their official 2019-20 athletic school year this week.
Beginning this Friday, August 23rd, and running through the next seven days after all five of the Govs fall sports (football, soccer, volleyball and men’s and women’s cross country) will kick-off their respective seasons.

Nashville Predators fall to the Carolina Hurricanes 6-3 behind Aho’s hat trick
Raleigh, NC – The Nashville Predators fell to the Carolina Hurricanes this afternoon behind 21 year old Sebastian Aho’s hat trick, 6-3.
The 21 year old took center stage while an old nemesis in net, Petr Mrazek, stonewalled the Predators for the win. Mrazek has beaten the Predators 7 times dating back to his days with the Detroit Red WIngs.
Aho put the ‘Canes on the board at 15:44 of the first period when he took the puck in the neutral zone and beat Pekka Rinne through the five-hole for the early 1-0 lead.

Knoxville, TN – Tennessee football head coach Jeremy Pruitt cannot wait to step on the field at Bank of America Stadium and face No. 17/20 West Virginia on Saturday at 3:30pm.
The first-year head coach has been on the jobs for nine months, and his closest thing to coaching game action was the Vols’ annual DISH Orange & White Game in the spring.
