City of Clarksville to Celebrate Independence Day Sunday, July 3rd

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – On Sunday, July 3rd, 2016, the City of Clarksville will celebrate our nation’s independence this year with the ninth annual Independence Day Celebration at Liberty Park. The event is free and open to the public.

Activities and music will begin at 6:00pm Seating is available throughout the park and the concerts will take place on the Great Lawn of the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. Concessions are for sale throughout the park.

Rivers and Spires Festival Celebrates 10th Anniversary with a Bang

 

Rivers and Spires Festiveal 2012 - 10 yearsClarksville, TN – The final day of the 2012 Rivers and Spires Festival on Saturday opened with unseasonably cooler weather to the point of being really chilly.  Warm coats, hats, and/or gloves were the order of the day.  Turnout started out slow, and might have been a little bit depressed over all from previous years as a result, but the people who did come out had a really great time!

Arriving around 11:00am, I found dribs and drabs of people mostly scattered around the various stages. As the morning progressed the numbers steadily increased. Services planned for A1C Christoffer Johnson

 

United States Air ForceClarksville, TN – Christoffer was serving as a member of the 379th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron in support of Operation New Dawn. He died February 17th, 2011 while on security patrol at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. 

While serving with the 423d Security Forces Squadron, Royal Air Force Base Alconbury in England, Christoffer volunteered for deployment and had been in theater for approximately 3 weeks of a 6-month rotation. «Read the rest of this article»

Guess What I Heard? coming to APSU Saturday

 

Guess What I HeardClarksville, TN – The Gospel play “Guess What I Heard?” will be performed at the APSU in the Clement Auditorium on Saturday, January 22nd 2011 at 2:00pm and at 7:00pm. The play is based on the book written by Camilla Vargas. It  is produced, written, and directed by Treva R. Gordon; with writing assistance by Lavon Bravy. Associate directors include Alphonse & Benetta Prather, Lavon Bracey, and Jacqueline Lisenby.

Guess What I Heard is not your ordinary gospel music theatrical play. Comprised of 6 vignettes that touch on stalking in a relationship, baby momma drama, spousal cheating, spousal abuse, self esteem, & suicide. Riverside Church provides flood assistance

 

What was thought to be a slow trickle of relief volunteers and clean up crews for lunch ended up being over 500 Military personnel that were dropped off at the Riverside Church parking Lot on the South end of Riverside Drive. Clarksville Church offering free lunches for all relief and clean up crews

 

Randy Lopshire, Senior Pastor of Riverside Church on Riverside Drive, has coordinated a team from church staff and volunteers to aide and assist relief in the Riverside District. Being located at ground zero on the South end across from the new marina, the church sits untouched by the havoc from the flooding. “We believe we’re here by design in this location to reach out and be a helping hand to numerous hurting businesses and families in the area,” says Pastor Lopshire.

The church has already left messages and made communications the local Red Cross, Emergency Management, interviewed with the Executive Editor of Clarksville Online, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s office. «Read the rest of this article»
