Clarksville, TN – Local high school basketball teams passed the midway point of their season at the beginning of the new year with a chance to improve in the second half. Some of the boys basketball teams have taken advantage of the opportunity and some have lost the momentum they gained in the first half of the season.
With three weeks left in the regular season, the competition in District 10-AAA is both heated and fluid. Only two games separate the top six teams, all of whom are at least .500 in district play. Currently, two teams are tied at the top of the rankings. In short, with six games left for most of the teams, the regular season championship is up for grabs.
Clarksville, TN – Since the holiday break, the Rossview Hawks (10-6, 2-5) have been soaring. Tuesday night their flight continued over the West Creek Coyotes at West Creek High School. The Hawks earned their second district win over the Coyotes, 49-40.
A strong Hawks defense added to miscues and poor offensive execution in the second and third quarters for the Coyotes. They scored just 10 points in the two quarters after scoring 10 points in the first quarter. This was only the third time this season they were held to 40 or less points.
Clarksville, TN – The reigning regular season and district tournament champion Rossview Lady Hawks (11-5, 6-1) had been soaring in district play, remaining undefeated so far this season until Tuesday night. After leading the entire first half, the Lady Hawks offense stalled in the third quarter. They committed six turnovers and scored only one point. The Lady Hawks tried to mount a comeback in the last minute of the game, but the Lady Coyotes held them off by making their free throws down the stretch.

This was the Lady Hawks third win in the last four games. They are undefeated in district play. The Lady Knights were held to a season low in points. Although, it took more than a quarter for the Lady Hawks defense to settle in.
