Nashville, TN – Darwin Barney has been named the manager of the Nashville Sounds as announced today by the Texas Rangers. Barney is set to become the 30th manager in franchise history.
Barney, 34, will be making his professional coaching and managerial debut. The Oregon native played parts of eight seasons in the big leagues. He spent time with the Chicago Cubs (2010-14), Los Angeles Dodgers (2014-15) and the Toronto Blue Jays (2015-17).

Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club has announced its 2020 schedule, complete with home and away game times for all 140 games.
The 43rd season in club history begins at First Horizon Park on Thursday, April 9th as the Sounds host the Iowa Cubs at 6:35pm. Opening Day is part of a season-opening five-game homestand. It’s the second consecutive season the Sounds begin the season in Nashville.
“We’re already looking forward to and planning an exciting 2020 season for the best fans in Minor League Baseball,” said Sounds General Manager Adam Nuse.

Metairie, LA – On Saturday night, the Nashville Sounds dropped the New Orleans Baby Cakes 10-3 at the Shrine on Airline. Nashville’s Andy Ibanez and Carlos Tocci combined for seven hits, four runs and five RBIs in the win. The Sounds totaled a season-high 18 hits and matched their largest margin of victory on the year.
The game was tied 1-1 in the third when Nolan Fontana launched a home run to right field to give the Sounds a lead they never gave away, and they broke open the game with a six-run third off Ben Meyer. Eli White drilled a two-run double, Matt Davidson singled home a run and Ibanez crushed a three-run homer to make it 8-1.
Nashville, TN – On Tuesday, the Nashville Sounds lost a doubleheader to the Salt Lake Bees at First Tennessee Park. Game one was lost 2-1 in a pitcher’s duel while game two was lost on a late surge by the Bees’ offense, who won 9-4.
The first runs of game one did not come until the fifth inning. Salt Lake’s Michael Hermosillo led off with a solo blast off the batter’s eye. Jarrett Parker hit a solo homer himself to give the Bees a 2-0 lead.
Nashville scored one run in the sixth inning. Matt Davidson led off with a double off the wall. Patrick Wisdom laced a single into left field that scored Davidson and cut the Salt Lake lead 2-1.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds fell to Round Rock Express 13-12 in a 13 inning game Tuesday night at First Tennessee Park. The game took 4 hours and 36 minutes to complete and finished with a pair of position players on the mound for their respective team.
Both teams scored in the 11th, 12th and 13th innings, but Round Rock scored three in the 13th and the Sounds answered with only two to ultimately come up short.
The back-and-forth scoring by both clubs started in the first and lasted until the final frame. Round Rock out-hit Nashville, 22-16. Despite being out-hit by six, the Sounds had a whopping 28 at-bats with runners in scoring position.
Nashville, TN – Nashville Sounds beat Round Rock Express 4-2 at First Tennessee Park Tuesday night helped along by great pitching from Sounds bullpen. Seth Maness earned his third win of the season and while David Carpenter earned his seventh save of the season.
The first score of the game came from Round Rock when Alex De Goti hit an RBI single in the top of the third to make it 1-0, Express.
Nashville tied the game in the bottom half of the third when Zack Granite scored on an error by Round Rock starter Akeem Bostick.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds drop doubleheader to Round Rock Express Monday afternoon at First Tennessee Park. The Express got a dominant performance from pitcher Cy Sneed to earn a 2-0 win in game one and got a clutch two-run double from Anibal Sierra to help grab game two, 8-4.
Game one of the doubleheader was a continuation of the suspended contest between the two teams on April 18th. Nashville reliever Tim Dillard put forth a tremendous effort with seven innings in relief, but the offense went silent with only two hits.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds cranked out 16 hits in 9-5 win against the Express in front of a sellout crowd of 11,506 at First Tennessee Park Sunday night. Zack Granite had three hits for Nashville while Matt Davidson, Jett Bandy and Hunter Cole each hit two-run homers.
In the bottom of the first, Granite led off with a bunt-single and scored on a Scott Heineman double. Davidson hit Heineman in on a home run to give Nashville a 3-0 lead.
Kyle Tucker led off the top of the fourth inning with a solo home run for Round Rock to cut Nashville’s lead 3-1.
