Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan re-elected Regional Transit Authority chair

 

McMillan: ‘City must take a leading role in regional planning’

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan has been elected to a third term as chair of the Regional Transit Authority Board of Directors.

Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto was elected vice chair and Paula Mansfield, a governor’s appointee from Rutherford County, was elected secretary for 2017.

The RTA board, created in 1988 to plan and develop a regional transit system, consists of city and county mayors and community leaders from the nine-county Middle Tennessee region.

Regional Transportation AuthorityNashville, TN – The Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee (RTA) is mid-way through a study to evaluate transit options between Clarksville and Nashville.

One of the key components of the project is input from those who live, work, and travel along this corridor. A series of Open House style public meetings to provide updates on the project and solicit additional input.

Northwest Corridor Transit StudyNashville, TN – The Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee (RTA) recently kicked off the Northwest Corridor Transit Study to evaluate transit options between Clarksville and Nashville. One of the key components of the project is input from those who live, work, and travel along this corridor.

The Open House meetings will introduce the project, familiarize residents with the study area, and ask for initial feedback. Participants are welcome to “come and go” throughout the two hour session.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan discusses the Issues; looks at Clarksville’s bright Future

 

Election 2014Clarksville, TN – Tomorrow, Tuesday October 3rd, is Tennessee’s General Election. Ballots will be cast on a range of offices and issues. Clarksville will also be electing the Mayor for the next four years. The candidates are Mayor Kim McMillan, City Councilman Bill Summers, and City Councilman Jeff Burkart.

Current Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan was sworn into office in January of 2011. When she was elected, her first goal was to reestablish the trust and integrity in the Mayor’s office. She came into office with two decades of experience representing the citizens of Clarksville-Montgomery County.

City of Clarksville gets over $1.6 million in CMAQ Grants

 

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – On Friday, August 22nd, 2014, Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner John Schroer presented Clarksvile Mayor Kim McMillan with a check for 1.6 million dollars.

That was just one of the grants presented that will benefit Clarksville and Montgomery County.

County Mayor Carolyn Bowers looks back at the last eight years and ahead at Montgomery County’s Future

 

Election 2014

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers was born and raised in Clarksville-Montgomery County. She graduated from Clarksville High School, then attended Austin Peay State University where she received her Bachelor and Masters Degrees. For 29 years, she taught high school business and computer classes in the school system. It was something she enjoyed and loved to do.

Serving as Montgomery County Trustee for two terms before becoming Montgomery County Mayor gave her experience with the county budget and the revenue end. As mayor, she began working on the expenditure end as well as managing the revenues and the bonds that you sell to fund capital projects.

Clarksville Transit System offers Free Fare Day on Black Friday

 

Clarksville Transit SystemClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Transit System will be offering free fares for riders all day on November 29th, 2013.

As part of the Regional Transportation Authority, CTS will be joining with other transit providers throughout Middle Tennessee who will be offering free rides.

Included in the program are the commuter buses from Clarksville to Nashville which will run as usual that day.

New Stop Added in Pleasant View

Regional Transportation AuthorityNashville, TN – The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) is expanding its regional bus service to Clarksville and is adding a new Cheatham County stop in Pleasant View beginning April 1st, 2013.

The passengers of the express bus were surveyed and as a result, an additional morning and evening trip for the 94X Clarksville Express is being added, as well as a new stop in Pleasant View.
