TSSAA announces Schools can begin contact during practice effective immediately

 

Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA)Hermitage, TN – Executive Order No. 55, first announced this past Tuesday, was signed by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee today, July 31st, 2020, making contact during practice now permissible in the sports of football and girls’ soccer. Other fall sports, including golf, cross country, and volleyball were not affected by the State of Emergency Order that prohibited contact sports.

Although contact practice is now permissible, the regulations and requirements for practice and competition adopted by the Board of Control at their July 22nd meeting are still in place for all sports and must be followed.

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, signed Emergency Executive Order #6 today as a required formality for the extension of the declaration of the State of Emergency allowed under TCA 58-2-110, that went into effect March 17th as well as existing Emergency Executive Orders #1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 for an additional seven days.

This means that the original declaration of a State of Emergency, as well as the emergency orders that followed, have been extended, as allowed by law, for an additional seven days beginning April 15th at 12:01am and ending April 22nd, at which time evaluation to further extend the orders will be determined.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) and Clarksville Police Department CPD) strongly encourage all citizens of Montgomery County to follow all Executive and Emergency Orders from the Tennessee Governor and City of Clarksville and Montgomery County Mayors.

Pursuant to the authority in TCA 58-2-107 the governor or the governor’s designee may declare a state of emergency or a disaster declaration by executive order or proclamation.
