Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Mayor’s Summer Night Lights to begin June 5th

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan is excited to invite young people in the Clarksville community to a summer program filled with free food and fun activities designed to help young people fight the summertime blues and boredom.

The fifth season of the Mayor’s Summer Night Lights program will kick off June 5th with 5-on-5 basketball tournaments and continue at various locations throughout the summer with DJs, athletic competitions, arts and crafts, local music performances and even a step show featuring fraternities and sororities from Austin Peay State University.

LEAP’s 7th Annual Step Show Competition set for Saturday, October 22nd

 

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – LEAP Organization is preparing for its 7th Annual Step Show Competition at West Creek High School on October 22nd. This competition is an inspiring, upbeat, and fun dance competition designed to showcase the talented young people we have in the community.

This event was the brainchild of two sisters, Deanna and Valerie Armstrong, who were among the five initial LEAP participants in 2009. Clarksville’s Riverfest continues Saturday with featured artist Charles Esten

 

Clarksville's Riverfest CelebrationClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Riverfest Celebration continues Saturday at McGregor Park. The entertainment begins at 10:00am Saturday, September 12th. The Miller Lite stage will feature David Perez, Cole Washburn, and a host of other country artists.

On the Riverbend stage, watch as local dance academies strut their stuff followed by a Step Show hosted by Daymar Institute.

Homecoming is October 24th-27th. Here is a list of events planned as part of the week long celebration. Many of the events are open to the public.

Some of the events include a Student Talent Show, Golf Tournament, Alumni Receptions, 5K Run, Homecoming Parade, Homecoming Football game and so much more.

The 2012 Rivers and Spires Festival Continues Today!

 

Rivers and Spires Festiveal 2012 - 10 yearsClarksville, TN – It’s hard to believe another year has passed and we are ready up for the 10th annual Rivers and Spires Festival, April 19th-21st. As usual there will be tons of free concerts, entertainment and activities. But, because it is our birthday, and we think a big one, the Festival has a few surprises up its sleeve, but you’ll have to come out and see!

If you’ve never been to the Rivers & Spires Festival or are new to town, put it on your calendar and get ready to have a great time. Lined with craft and food vendors, six music stages, kids’ activities and artisan booths, Historic Downtown transforms each year as the festival goes into full swing. Music is a big part of the event, with at least two artists on one of the many stages at any given time. But it doesn’t stop at just music.
