Montgomery Central Lady Indians buried under 11 3s by Greenbrier in 65-28 loss

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – Montgomery Central High School’s girls basketball team remained winless on the season after seeing Greenbrier High School knocking down 11 shots from behind the three-point arc, Monday, December 1st at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, as the Lady Indians fell to the Lady Bobcats 65-28.

The foreshadowing of what was to come against the Lady Indians (0-5) started right off the bat, as the first three baskets made by Greenbrier (6-2) on the night came from behind the arc – with Amanda Bennett getting things going, while Kayla Jerrell banged in back-to-back 3s to give the Lady Bobcats an 9-2 lead 4:30 into the game.

Montgomery Central Indians rally comes up short in 54-51 loss to Stewart County Rebels

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolCunningham, TN – Down by as many as 16 points in the first half, January 22nd at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, Montgomery Central High School’s boys basketball team had two shots to tie the game in the final seconds, but couldn’t find the mark in a 54-51 District 11-AA loss to Stewart County High School.

Montgomery Central (9-10, 5-6 District 11-AA) still trailed by nine points, 51-42, with 1:37 left in the game, but baskets by Lamont Smith and Alex Norfleet – sandwiched around two missed free throws by Stewart County – followed by a three-point bucket by Dalton Perkins got the Indians back to a two-point game, 51-49, with 48 second left.

Montgomery Central High SchoolCunningham, TN – When you’re facing one of the top teams in your district you hope to have all your players healthy and ready to face the challenge.

Well, that wasn’t the case for the Montgomery Central High School girls basketball team, January 22nd at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, as the Lady Indians were down to their third-string point guard against a defensively strong Stewart County High School squad, coming away with a 63-16 loss.

Montgomery Central Indians move above .500 with 52-51 overtime win over Hickman County

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolCunningham, TN – Two free throws from Dalton Perkins and a last-second miss by Hickman County High School, January 9th at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, sealed away a 52-51 District 11-AA overtime victory for the Montgomery Central High School Indians to move them above .500 on the season and in district play.

Perkins’ two free throws for Montgomery Central (7-6, 3-2 District 11-AA) came after the Bulldogs Nathan Clinard had given Hickman County a one-point lead, 51-50, with 31.1 seconds left.

Montgomery Central Lady Indians can’t maintain quick start in 53-36 loss to Hickman County

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolCunningham, TN – Montgomery Central High School came out and dominated the opening quarter, January 9th, in their District 11-AA contest versus Hickman County High School at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, but the final three quarters weren’t kind to the Lady Indians as they fell to the Lady Bulldogs, 53-36.

The Lady Indians (5-8, 1-4 District 11-AA) jumped out to a quick start scoring 10 of the first 14 points of the game to lead by six, midway through the opening period.

Hickman County would rally to tie the game by going on a 6-0 run over a span of 57 seconds to knot the score at 10-10, with 2:03 left.

Montgomery Central Indians rally from 15 down to beat Clarksville Academy 48-47

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolCunningham, TN – A Justin Cowan layup in the final 15 seconds, followed with a blocked shot right before the final horn, sealed away a 15-point come-from-behind victory for Montgomery Central High School, December 12th at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, as they edged Clarksville Academy, 48-47.

The Cowan layup for Montgomery Central (3-3) came after Clarksville Academy’s Thomas Jackson had given the Cougars the lead, 47-46 with 22.9 seconds left, after hitting on of two free throw attempts.

Montgomery Central Lady Indians sweep season series with Clarksville Academy

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolClarksville, TN – Montgomery Central High School’s Lady Indians gave up the first basket of the night to Clarksville Academy, December 12th at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, but then held the Lady Cougars scoreless for the next 10:51 to build a 17-2 lead on to its way to a 30-12 victory.

Hannah Holt would score a basket at the 6:30 mark for Clarksville Academy (0-8) to take a 2-0 lead, but it would be the last points scored by the Lady Cougars would Anna Cherry connected on one of two free throws at the 3:39 mark of the second quarter.

Montgomery Central High SchoolClarksville, TN – With both teams playing at a slow methodical pace for most of the night, Montgomery Central was able to build a 16-point late in the third quarter, November 14th at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, before coming away with a 40-31 Hall of Fame Game victory over the Jo Byrns Red Devils to open the season.

Both teams struggled early on to score, with the Indians (1-0) holding a two-point advantage, 6-4, with 2:22 left in the first quarter.

But Montgomery Central finished the period by scoring the final six points to take a 12-4 lead after the first eight minutes of play.

Big first half lifts Northeast Lady Eagles past Montgomery Central Lady Indians 54-37

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolClarksville, TN – Getting out to a 17-point halftime lead, the Northeast High School Lady Eagles picked up their first win of the young season, November 14th at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, with a 54-37 Hall of Fame Game victory over Montgomery Central High School.

Northeast (1-1) would get out of the gates quickly, jumping out to a 9-0 lead over the game’s first 4:48, before Montgomery Central’s MaKayla Flake ended the run with a basket at the 2:31 mark.
