Nashville, TN – Telvin Hooks scored on two third-quarter touchdown runs to break open a close contest as Tennessee State defeated Austin Peay State University, 31-6, Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference play at Hale Stadium.
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay football team will look to earn that elusive first win of the season under first year head coach Kirby Cannon on Saturday, as Jacksonville State comes to Governor’s Stadium for a 4:00pm kick-off.
This the third of four homes this season for the Governors, who will play eight road contests this season.
Murray, KY – Austin Peay State University’s offensive woes continued as it fell to Murray State, 31-3, Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference action played at Roy Stewart Stadium.
The loss drops APSU to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the OVC. Meanwhile, the Racers improved to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in OVC play.
Clarksville, TN – With Cheatham County’s first possession in overtime, senior running back Desmond Sweatt scored from 7 yards out to give the Cubs a six point lead. Willie Pressley lined up to attempt the extra point to extend the lead to seven, but the Academy’s Connor Wise broke free from the left side of the line, leaped, and blocked the kick to keep the lead at six
The block allowed Clarksville Academy the opportunity to score a touchdown on their possession in overtime and have a chance to win the game with an extra point of their own. After a 3rd down illegal procedure call on the Academy moved the ball back to the 14, Michael Conn found Connor Thomas on a slant route over the middle for a touchdown.
Clarksville, TN – The University of Tennessee Volunteers dropped a heartbreaking over-time loss to Georgia, 34-31 at Neyland Stadium on Saturday, as the Vols were seeking that “signature ” win they’ve been desperate for.
Georgia kicker Marshall Morgan kicked a 42 yard field goal in overtime to give the Bulldogs the hard fought victory.
Montgomery Central High School Indians Football unable to stop undefeated Fairview Yellowjackets, 50-13

Cunningham, TN – Dedicated Montgomery Central Indians football fans had their ponchos and umbrellas out in the pouring rain Friday night, hoping to see their team get their first win against the visiting Fairview Yellowjackets. Instead they witnessed the Yellow jackets (5-0) extend their undefeated streak by defeating the Indians (0-5), 50-13.
The Yellowjackets stung the Indians early and often. They scored 27 points in the first quarter and had 42 points by halftime.
Nashville, TN – With no time left on the clock in overtime, the Houston Texans had the ball on the Tennessee Titans 28 with the game tied at 24. Texans kicker Randy Bullock attempts a 46 yard field goal that hits the left upright and is no good sending the game into overtime.
In overtime, Houston wins the coin toss and elect to receive. Keshawn Martin takes the Rob Bironas kickoff out to the Houston 22. Matt Schaub, in 10 plays, takes the Texans down to the Tennessee 3. On 3rd and 3, from the shotgun, Schaub hits DeAndre Hopkins on the right for a short 3 yard pass and a touchdown. Texans beat the Titans 30-24.

Clarksville, TN – The Kenwood Knights evened their record at 2-2 in this 2013 football season with a 28-3 win over the Glencliff Colts.
On a cool, windy night on Kenwood’s home turf, the Knights, for the second straight week got off to a slow start. Glencliff, who came into tonight’s contest scoreless on the season, finally put up their first points of the year with a 25 yard field goal with 54 seconds left in the first quarter. But Kenwood would come back quickly, and scored 3 touchdowns in a span of four and a half minutes.
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville High’s football team dropped its fourth straight game to open its 2013 campaign, September 13th at Hilda J. Richardson Field, with a 45-14 loss to Centennial High School.
For the Wildcats (0-4, 0-1 District 10-AAA), it marks the first time since the 1995 season that they would open year with four straight defeats
Lawrenz Guerra would get Clarksville High off to a quick start, as the senior running back took the first handoff of the night and went 67 yards for a touchdown to put the Wildcats up 7-0 – after Mason Gasaway’s extra-point – just 27 seconds into the game.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Academy Cougars rebounded from their first loss of the season last week by knocking off a tough nosed East Robertson team 33-29 at Simpson field.
The Cougars fell behind early as the Indians took the opening kickoff and went 63 yards on 8 plays aided by two fourth down conversions. The second of which resulted in a 45 yard TD pass from East Robertson’s Matthew Tomlin to Brendon Moore. The extra point was missed and the Indians had a 6-0 lead.
