AAA says Paying at the Pump is Taking Up More of Motorists’ Paychecks

AAA

AAAWashington, D.C. – Consumers are spending $69 more a month to fill-up compared to last summer. According to AAA, gasoline expenses are accounting, on average, for seven percent of an American’s 2018 annual income, a one and half percent increase since summer of 2017.

With strong summer consumer gasoline demand expected in the months ahead, AAA says motorists can expect little relief at the pump with the national gas price average ranging between $2.85 – $3.05 through Labor Day.

As vacationers hit the road, they will find a quarter (25 percent) of all gas stations across the country are selling gas for more than $3.00/gallon. (AAA)

Dodging the Roadkill: In The Hot Seat

Dodging the Roadkill - A Biker's JourneyClarksville, TN – First let me apologize for not posting anything lately.  I’ve just had nothing to write about since I returned from my trip to Ft. Smith Arkansas.  I try not to post anything just to “post” something.

Well, I’ve had plenty to talk about here lately.

THE WEATHER!

Apparently I slept through Spring and missed it here.  In this part of the country, we’ve gone straight from Winter to Summer, because it’s been unseasonably hot lately.  I really don’t think we had a “spring” this year, and if we did, well, I missed it.

But that’s ok.  I’m not complaining.  There’s been great days to ride, and ride I have!  Riding in the heat can be a chore, but it can also be some of the best times ever.

My Two Cents: A Night With The Jackson Generals

My Two-Cents with Hank BonecutterJackson, TN – During a family vacation this summer, my family and I were blessed to meet a remarkable young man named Dusty Stanfill.  He was born facing challenges that most of us couldn’t imagine.  You can read his story here. I remember that all he talked about was his beloved baseball team, the Jackson Generals.

Since returning from vacation, I had been trying to figure out a way to pay him a visit, so what better way than to surprise him at a baseball game.  So, working with some fabulous people at the Jackson Generals, I straddled the Harley and took off.
