Clarksville’s Valleybrook Park reopens with new Playgrounds

 

Federal grants provide updated restrooms, pavilions

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Valleybrook Park, a neighborhood green space on Crossland Avenue near downtown, reopened Monday after a facelift funded with federal grants secured by the City of Clarksville.

Improvements include two new playgrounds, new restrooms, a new pavilion, conversion of the old restrooms to an additional pavilion, and repaving of the parking lot.

Clarksville’s Valleybrook Park to get new Playgrounds

 

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Valleybrook Park, a neighborhood green space on Crossland Avenue near downtown, will be getting a $447,000 facelift thanks to a federal grant secured by the City of Clarksville.

Improvements include two new playgrounds, a new restrooms, a new pavilion, conversion of the current restrooms to an additional pavilion, and repaving of the parking lot.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation to hold Ribbon Cutting for Section of Upland Trail

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – A popular a scenic trail that connects to the Commerce Street pedestrian bridge and ends just before Valleybrook Park now stretches a little further.

After more than a year of work, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 11th at 10:00am to celebrate the completion of construction activity for the Upland Trail extension. The new section includes stairs that connect the trail from Commerce Street to Public Square.

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department has reopened Valleybrook Park playgrounds.

The playgrounds had been closed due to the severe weather that resulted in heavy flooding at the park in 2010.

73 Year Old Man Carjacked on Crossland Avenue

 

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On August 29th, 2011, around 3:15pm, 911 received a call about a man being chased around Valleybrook Park, off of Crossland Avenue, by another man with a handgun.

When officers arrived they found out the man had been carjacked. The area was immediately flooded with officers, who were unable to locate the vehicle or suspects. The investigation is in the early stages and some of the information about the incident are sketchy.

The Clarksville Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the two suspects.

Portion of Uplands Trail closing for repaving

 

parksandrecThe City of Clarksville strives to keep its pedestrian walkways in excellent condition. Due to repaving, a portion of the Uplands Trail from Commerce Street to the overlook at Valleybrook Park will be closed June 5-12. The rest of the Upland Trail will remain open to pedestrians. The repaved portion of the trail will reopen to the public June 13.
