Nashville Predators continue their slide with loss to the Vancouver Canucks 6-3

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators can’t seem to break out of their slump as they fall to the Vancouver Canucks, 6-3.

A series of bad breaks, and undisciplined penalties, afforded Vancouver the opportunity to score at will on the power play to defeat the Predators tonight.

Nashville out shot their opponent, 48-23, but couldn’t find the back of the net against Jacob Markstrom in goal for the Canucks.

Pekka Rinne was pulled by the Predators to start the third period in favor of Juuse Saros, who held Vancouver scoreless in the final frame.  The only score for Vancouver coming on an empty netter for the final score.

Nashville Predators fall to the San Jose Sharks 2-1

Nashville PredatorsSan Jose, CA – The Nashville Predators managed to squeeze a point out of tonight’s loss to the San Jose Sharks, losing 2-1 in regulation.  The game went to a shoot-out where Timo Meier, in his first shoot-out appearance, slipped one over the shoulder of Juuse Saros for the win.

Nashville entered tonight’s game wondering how they would recover from the embarrassing loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night, 9-4, but hit the ice determined to play Predators hockey.  This is the third of four road games for the Predators, as they wrap this road trip up in Vancouver on Tuesday night.

Nashville Predators dominate the Detroit Red Wings 6-1

Nashville PredatorsDetroit, MI – The Nashville Predators totally dominated the Detroit Red Wings tonight, exploding for five goals in the second period, to get an important road win, 6-1.

The Red Wings have had Nashville’s number, winning 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two teams, but tonight, the Predators were able to chase starting goalie Jimmy Howard with a flurry of goals in the second period.

Detroit got on the board first at 2:35 of the opening period when Andreas Althanasiou took a pass from Filip Hronek to beat Pekka Rinne on the short side for the early 1-0 lead.  As it turns out, that would be the only marker of the night for the Red Wings.

Nashville Predators defeat the Vancouver Canucks in overtime thriller 4-3

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators almost let this one get away, but in the end, Colton Sissons was able to score the game winner in overtime for the 4-3 Nashville win over the Vancouver Canucks.

It was a bit of sweet revenge for the Predators after the beatdown they suffered in Vancouver last week.

Nashville is still working their way through the injury bug with Viktor Arvidsson and P.K Subban still unavailable.  The Predators did get Kyle Turris back in the lineup tonight for the win, and that meant Eeli Tolvanen was sent down to Milwaukee this morning.

Nashville Predators snap losing streak to defeat Ottawa Senators 3-1

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators recovered from a disastrous Canadian road trip to defeat the Ottawa Senators at the Bridgestone Arena, 3-1.

The win in front of a noisy “Smashville” home crowd, was a much needed shot in the arm following two losses last week to Vancouver and Calgary.  The injury plagued Predators have been finding ways to win without P.K Subban, Viktor Arvidsson and Kyle Turris, all on the injury list.

Ottawa scored first, just twenty six seconds into the contest on a mishandled shot by Pekka Rinne.  Zack Smith’s backhand skipped over the outstretched glove of Rinne for the early 1-0 Ottawa lead.
