The OI campaign was developed this year to evolve Tennessee’s fourth statewide distracted driving enforcement initiative.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Participates in Statewide “Safe on Seventy” Traffic Enforcement Campaign

Tennessee Highway Patrol - THPNashville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO), Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), and local law enforcement agencies across Tennessee in an effort to keep one of the state’s busiest roads safe. 

Enforcement efforts will focus on U.S. Hwy 70 statewide. This is a strict traffic enforcement campaign that will take place on July 31st and August 3rd. This intensified enforcement effort is referred to as “Safe on Seventy.”

U.S. Hwy. 70 runs West to East through 36 counties in Tennessee encompassing 538 miles. U.S. Hwy. 70 ends at the North Carolina state line.  Along the route, the roadway runs parallel to several U.S. and state highways, including those in all three of the state’s major cities (Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville).

Austin Peay State University Campus Police Promote Seatbelt Safety

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Campus Police Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) for its fifth annual Seatbelts Are for Everyone (SAFE) campaign.

This statewide initiative is designed to increase seatbelt and child passenger safety restraint usage through the implementation of occupant-protection programs, public events and checkpoints throughout Tennessee. The SAFE campaign began February 1st, 2018 and concludes August 1st, 2018.

Tennessee Joins Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina for “Operation Southern Shield”

Governor’s Highway Safety OfficeNashville, TN – Today, July 17th, 2017, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) was joined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, and law enforcement partners for a press event to launch “Operation Southern Shield,” a regional mobilization to crack down on speeding from July 17th to July 23rd, 2017.

The Clarksville Police Department will be joining in this effort and providing increased presence on US-41A (Madison Street, 41-A bypass, Providence Boulevard, Fort Campbell Boulevard, and Riverside Drive.

Clarksville Police Department to step up DUI Enforcement during the Holiday Season

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) to enhance drunk-driving enforcement from December 15th to January 1st, surrounding the holiday season. The statewide Booze It and Lose It campaign is part of a national mobilization to prevent drunk driving.
