Clarksville’s Welcome Home Veterans Parade was held Saturday, September 16th

 

Clarksville, TN – A Welcome Home Veterans celebration has been taking place in Clarksville since September 13th, beginning with the arrival of the American Veterans Traveling Tribute Wall at Appleton Harley Davidson.

More than two dozen events at venues throughout the city included a reception at Old Glory Distilling Co., a screening of Ken Burns’ new documentary “The Vietnam War”, and a Remembrance Ceremony at First Baptist Church featuring Cindy Stonebraker, whose father has been MIA since October 1968.

A downtown parade honoring our veterans took place Saturday as part of a  series of events in conjunction with the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall's visit to Clarksville.

Longest-Held Enlisted POW Bill Robinson to Speak at Clarksville Event on September 15th

 

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – On September 20th, 1965, Airman 1st Class Bill Robinson began a typical mission day as part of the team trying to rescue a downed pilot in North Vietnam. Enemy ground fire downed their helicopter and the crew and pilot were captured.

The Vietnamese would not release Robinson for seven years and five months, making him the longest-held enlisted man in US military history.

USS LST-325 arrives in Clarksville Wednesday, September 6th

 

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – The USS LST-325, 328-foot-long landing ship tank, will arrive in Clarksville on Wednesday, September 6th, 2017. The ship’s arrival in Clarksville is one of the many activities that are part of Visit Clarksville’s Welcome Home Veterans Celebration.

The LST-325 will be open for tours beginning at 9:00a.m. on Thursday, September 7th through 5:00pm Friday, September 15th. The LST will depart from Clarksville on Saturday, September 16th, 2017.

All flags will be displayed in the Field of Honor – Veterans Tribute at Beachaven Vineyards and Winery, 1100 Dunlop Lane, September 14th-17th.

Eyes of Freedom Traveling Memorial to Join Clarksville’s Welcome Home Veterans Week in September

 

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN The Eyes of Freedom: Lima Company Memorial is the latest addition to the many events that have become part of Welcome Home Veterans Week in Clarksville, Tennessee September 13th-17th, 2017.

This traveling memorial depicts the fallen Marines and Navy Corpsman of Columbus, OH based Lima Company 3/25, one of the most heavily engaged units of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Clarksville to host Five Days of Welcome Home Veterans Events in September

 

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – Visit Clarksville, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Veterans Coalition, is proud to host its third annual Welcome Home Veterans event September 13th-17th, 2017.
