88 APSU Governors named to OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Eighty-eight Austin Peay State University student-athletes were named to the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll, Friday, following the 2016-17 academic year.

Student-athletes must have achieved a 3.25 grade-point average, were eligible and on the team throughout the competitive season in their chose NCAA-sponsored sport(s) and used a season of competition in that sport.

Austin Peay’s numbers include 22 athletes who competed in multiple sports during the season and are counted just once in the department’s total.

180 APSU Athletes earn Fall Semester Academic Honors

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – For the fourth consecutive semester, more than half of Austin Peay State University’s athletes received academic recognition following the recently concluded spring semester.

The department saw 180 athletes named to the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll, each earning a minimum 3.0 grade-point average during the semester. That amounted to more than 53 percent of the department’s near-record 335 athletes earning academic recognition from the department.

It is the fourth consecutive semester the department has seen more than 50 percent of its athletes post a 3.0 or better GPA.

103 APSU Student Athletes named to OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes accounted for 103 of a record 1,335 student-athletes named to the 2015-16 Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll, announced Wednesday by the conference office.

“Academic success is part of our department’s responsibility and a mission for our student-athletes,” said Austin Peay athletics director Ryan Ivey. “Similar to a successful on-field performance, what you do in the classroom comes down to how hard you’re willing to work; the sacrifice and dedication these student-athletes put in to have success on and off the field is second to none.”

170 APSU Student-Athletes earn Spring Semester Academic Honors

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Over half of Austin Peay State University’s student-athletes received academic recognition following the recently concluded spring semester with the department announcing its student-athletes posted a 2.91 grade-point average.

The department saw 170 student-athletes named to the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll, each earning a minimum 3.0 GPA during the semester. The athletics department saw 84 student-athletes named to Austin Peay’s Dean’s List and 34 of those were recognized on the President’s list, each posting an unblemished 4.0 GPA.

Austin Peay State University Student Athletes break academic records during 2015 Fall Semester

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – It was a milestone semester in the classroom for Austin Peay State University’s athletics department as its 328 student-athletes combined for a record 3.022 grade-point average during the Fall 2015 Semester.

The department saw a record 202 student-athletes named to the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll with at least a 3.0 GPA during the semester. In addition, a record 113 student-athletes were named to the Austin Peay Dean’s List with at least a 3.5 GPA. It is the first time in department history more than 200 student-athletes were named to the AD’s honor roll and more than 100 student-athletes received Dean’s List recognition.

Jordan Justice Throws Four Touchdowns in West Creek Coyotes Shutout of Northwest Vikings 35-0

 

West Creek High School Coyotes - Clarksville, TNServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – West Creek’s junior quarterback Jordan Justice threw four touchdowns and rushed for one more in the Coyotes’ 35-0 shutout of the Northwest Vikings Friday night. The win ended a four-game losing streak and was the Coyotes first victory over a District 10-AAA opponent this season.

In an impressive aerial assault, Justice completed 9-of-12 passes to five different receivers for 313 yards with four touchdowns. Two of the touchdown passes were over 45 yards.

West Creek Coyotes roll off 28 second-half points to beat Todd County Rebels 31-7

 

West Creek High School Coyotes - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Zeandre Floyd’s 99-yard kick-off return for a touchdown, to open the second half Saturday, August 23rd, helped open the scoring flood gates for West Creek High School, as they pulled away from Todd County Central (KY) High School for a 31-7 season-opening victory.

The Floyd return made it 10-0, as it came after Tyler Moore had sent the Coyotes (1-0) into intermission up 3-0 with a 23-yard field goal at the horn to end the first half.

Kenwood High School wins showdown at home against West Creek High School 41-24

West Creek High School Coyotes - Clarksville, TNKenwood High SchoolClarksville, TN – The Kenwood Knights earned their first AAA District 10 conference win of the season, defeating the West Creek Coyotes 41-24.

Turnovers by both teams dictated the game. The West Creek Coyotes jumped out to an early 14-0 lead because of the Knights first turnover of the game, a fumble by Kenwood Knight’s running back, Rikeece Covington.

However, four interceptions thrown by West Creek quarterback, Jaylen McClanahan in the first half turned into 35 Kenwood points. A hole, the Coyotes could not claw their way out of .
