Program guides are free and can be picked up at our main office or any of our three community centers. You can access a digital copy by visiting www.cityofclarksville.com/programguides.
The Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, is excited to offer a new program, International Line Dancing that targets the social dancer. This is not your typical line dancing class. Classes consist of dances choreographed to country, Hip Hop, Jazz, Rock ‘n Roll, Gospel and Pop.
Classes begin February 11 and are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per class. A community Center ID card is also required.
The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is excited to host the first-ever edition of Battleship Canoe at the Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, on February 16.
Similar to the board game, Battleship®, Battleship Canoe will feature teams of four young adults, seated in a canoe, attempting to sink other teams’ canoes using four buckets of water. Teams may also have one shield in their boat to fend off water from entering their boat. Up to five canoes may be in the pool at one time. Teams will battle in heats and the top two teams will advance. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of the High School and College divisions.
The event is open to young adults ages 14-18 in the High School Division and 18 and up for the College Division. Games will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost to play is $15 per team. Pre-registration is available at recpro.cityofclarksville.com and is strongly encouraged.
Ditch the workout and join the Zumba fitness party at the Burt-Cobb Community Center, located at 1101 Franklin Street! Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Zumba fitness classes combine Latin dance with hip hop dance and other exotic music flavors. Routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. No experience is necessary, just wear athletic shoes and come prepared to burn calories. Classes are $3 per class.
Seniors, get out and about and enjoy the fun of Mardi Gras at the Quick Silver Social! This event is a semi-formal dance party where mature adults can enjoy meeting new people, dancing, socializing, music and also performances by the Distinguished Steppers Unlimited organization.
The Quick Silver Social will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, February 16 at the Kleeman Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane. This event is free to attend.
