Clarksville, TN – Enock Langat, a junior on the Austin Peay State University men’s cross country team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Langat finished 11th to lead the Govs to a fifth-place team finish at the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Cross Country Championships, at Southern Hills Golf Course. Langat completed the eight-kilometer course in 26:11.21 to earn second-team All-OVC honors.
He is the first Govs runner to receive All-OVC honors since Lewis Delfin did so in 1988. Langat is the first APSU student-athlete to be named the CIAF APSU Athlete of the Week twice this season.
The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
- Freshman Natalia Ariza, of the women’s soccer team, scored her second-straight game-winning goal in the Lady Govs 2-1 win at SIU Edwardsville, Sunday. It was the Lady Govs third-straight win heading into the 2010 OVC Tournament.
- Senior Jessica Mollmann, of the volleyball team, led the Lady Govs in kills (31), aces (10) and blocks (11) during their 2-1 week. She recorded 10 or more kills in all three matches. She had 11 kills and a .429 attack percentage at Morehead State; recorded 10 kills (.350 attack percentage), seven aces and four blocks in four sets against Jacksonville State; and finished the week with 10 kills (.421 attack percentage), two aces and five blocks in three sets against Tennessee Tech.
- Senior Terrence Holt, of the football team, finished with 130 yards on 16 carries at Eastern Illinois. He scored the Govs only touchdown in the third quarter, capping a 10-play, 56-yard drive, with an 11-yard scamper.
