Brentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) Wesley Gray was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Male Cross Country Runner of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

Clarksville, TN – A record 1,075 graduate were awarded degree at Austin Peay State University’s 83rd Spring Commencement and 37 were student-athletes.
They were part of graduation ceremonies in the Dunn Center as both a morning and afternoon commencements were held Friday.
The seniors athletes were part of a graduating class that saw record numbers earn Athletics Directors Honor Roll recognition and a department grade-point average that approach 3.0 annually.

Brentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s cross country team was picked to finish fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference’s preseason cross country coaches poll, released Thursday.
The Govs received 52 points in the poll and were picked behind Eastern Kentucky (81 points), Eastern Illinois (71) and Southeast Missouri (65). Austin Peay was picked to finish ahead of Morehead State (45), UT Martin (38), Tennessee Tech (35), Jacksonville State (32), Murray State (22) and Tennessee State (nine). «Read the rest of this article»
Clarksville, TN – For a third straight year, Austin Peay State University women’s golf team has been saluted with the Ohio Valley Conference Team Academic Achievement Award.
The award is presented annually in each Conference-sponsored sport to the member institution’s team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade-point average or higher—OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. The Lady Govs golf team had seven of its student-athletes earn such distinction. Clarksville, TN – Two senior athletes who authored record-setting careers have been named the 2010-11 Legends Award recipients.
And two underclass athletes who led their respective programs into the postseason have been named Most Outstanding Athletes. The recipients of Austin Peay State University’s most cherished athletic awards along with the individual team honors were made Monday night at APSU’s annual Athletics banquet, held in Dave Aaron Arena.
Clarksville, TN – Enock Langat, an Austin Peay State University student in the Radiologic Technology Program, recently received a scholarship to the 2011 American Society of Radiologic Technologists Educational Symposium in Albuquerque, NM.
This all-expenses-paid scholarship will enable Langat to learn more about management, education and scholarly writing. He will also meet with the ASRT House of Delegates to learn about leadership roles in medical imaging. «Read the rest of this article»
Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week
Clarksville, TN – Ilyana Hernandez, a junior on the Austin Peay State University volleyball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
The Torrance, CA., native was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week, Monday, after recording 28 kills and a .472 attack percentage in the Lady Govs two victories, last week. It was the second time this season she received the honor.
Hernandez went errorless in 27 attempts against Tennessee State, finishing with 15 kills and a .556 attack percentage.
She followed that with 13 kills and a .385 attack percentage against SIU Edwardsville in the regular-season finale. «Read the rest of this article»
APSU Men’s Cross Country
Birmingham, AL – Junior Enock Langat finished 49th to lead the Austin Peay State University men’s cross country team at the NCAA South Regional Championships, Saturday, at Veterans Park.
Only four Govs made the trip to the regional meet and did not record a team score. Alabama scored 30 points to win the meet as its first four runners crossing the line among the top 10.
APSU Men’s Cross Country
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s cross country team continues its postseason schedule with the NCAA South Regional Championships 10-kilometer race beginning at 10:45am, Saturday at Veterans Park in Birmingham, AL.
The Governors will look to maintain an effort that led to a fifth-place finish at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, October 30th. It was their best finish at the OVC finale since 1999. They will have their hands full at the regional with 32 teams competing, including No. 6 Florida and No. 25 Alabama. The Crimson Tide is the defending South Regional champion, winning by 25 points, the Govs finished 24th in last season’s event.
Langat finished 11th to lead the Govs to a fifth-place team finish at the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Cross Country Championships, at Southern Hills Golf Course. Langat completed the eight-kilometer course in 26:11.21 to earn second-team All-OVC honors.
He is the first Govs runner to receive All-OVC honors since Lewis Delfin did so in 1988. Langat is the first APSU student-athlete to be named the CIAF APSU Athlete of the Week twice this season.
