Vivaldi Concert Sunday January 9th

Grace Lutheran Church

Clarksville, TN – The Grace Lutheran Church Concert Series will be presenting an all Vivaldi concert, including the Vivaldi Gloria under the direction of music director Rocky Craft, with orchestra, soloists and the Grace Lutheran Church Choir.  Featured soloists and orchestra members from the Austin Peay State University faculty include Dr. Thomas King, Dr. Jeanette Zyko, and Dr. Emily Crane. Other soloists include Nancy Slaughter, Holly Dueker and Karen Crow.

The Vivaldi Gloria in D, was written around 1715. The words come from the traditional Latin Mass beginning with the biblical announcement of glory and peace given by the angels to the shepherds at the nativity. In addition to the Gloria, we will hear “Winter” from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons performed by the strings, featuring a violin solo by Dr. Crane, a Vivaldi solo sung by Dr. King and a Vivaldi Sonate Oboe solo performed by Dr. Zyko. This is truly a concert not to be missed. Its a great ending to the holiday season.

Please join us on January 9th, 2011, at 4:00pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 2041 Madison Street in Clarksville. As always, our concerts are free and open to the public. For more information contact the church office at 931-647-6750.
