APSU Presidential Research Scholars Program announces students for 2011-12

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Ten undergraduate students at Austin Peay State University have been chosen for the 2011-12 Presidential Research Scholars Program.

Students in the program were selected for the May 1st, 2011, to April 30th, 2012, award period. The Research Scholars Program works to promote independent research training and creative activity with scholarly merit and supports the incorporation of research training into the collegiate educational experience.

The program encourages collaboration between faculty and student researchers and provides students with experience in a competitive proposal process.

The program provides $3,000 in support of each independent undergraduate research project. All full-time undergraduate students of APSU, with the support of a faculty mentor, are eligible to apply.

The new Presidential Research Scholars and their faculty mentors are the following:

Brittany Anderson, department of languages and literature, working with faculty mentor Timothy Winters.

Kelly Anderson, department of biology, under the direction of faculty mentor Joseph Schiller.

Katherine Boedges, department of physics, working with Allyn Smith and Kevin Smith as her faculty mentors.

Wendy Borland, department of chemistry, under the direction of Rebecca Jones.

Jaffer Ibrahim, department of computer science, working with faculty mentor Wei Ding.

Drew Kerr, College of Business, working with faculty mentor dong Nyonna.

Toby Lee, department of art, under the guidance of Gregg Schlanger. 

Clare Spielman, department of biology, under the guidance of Sarah Lundin-Schiller.

Emily Towery, department of biology, working with faculty mentor Gilbert Pitts.

D.L. Zartner, department of art, under the direction of faculty mentor Cindy Marsh.
