Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay soccer wraps up non-conference play with a noon, Sunday match, at Xavier. It’s the first meeting between the two teams.
The Lady Govs have fared well non-conference action, including a 5-0 win at Lipscomb in Thursday night action. Xavier serves as the final tune up for APSU as Ohio Valley Conference action begins next weekend with Southeast Missouri and UT Martin coming to Clarksville.
Sophomore Tatiana Ariza has been the driving force offensively, already matching her 2010 scoring totals with 11 goals in the first eight games. She’s been helped tremendously by the addition of transfer junior Emily Perkins, who has six goals.Defensively, the Lady Govs’ youth has led to inconsistencies. They have posted four shutouts, but allowed two or more goals in both losses, thus far.
Xavier is 4-3 heading into the contest, coming off a 1-0 win against Eastern Kentucky, Friday. EKU held the Musketeers scoreless through regulation and the game was less than three minutes away from a scoreless tie when Ashton Greene scored the gamewinner in the 107th minute.
