Clarksville, TN – For the fifth consecutive week, Austin Peay State University men’s basketball player Chris Horton has earned at least a share of Freshman of the Week honors from the Ohio Valley Conference.
The Decatur, GA native becomes the first OVC player since Eastern Kentucky’s Matt Witt (2002-03) to be named conference freshman of the week five straight weeks. This week, he shared the honor with Tennessee Tech’s Lanerryl Johnson, who scored 15 points off the bench in the Golden Eagles win against Milwaukee, Saturday.
Horton’s averaging 9.5 points and 7.1 rebounds through the first 10 games of his Austin Peay career. He already has 30 blocks, putting him nearly halfway to a top-10 all-time ranking – Drake Reed is currently 10th all-time with 63 blocks – less than one-third of the way through his freshman campaign.
