Clarksville Police report on Sunday’s Multiple Vehicle Accident at Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and Center Point Drive

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Sunday, December 9th, 2013 at 6:37pm, the Clarksville Police Department responded to a crash at US-79 (Wilma Rudolph Boulevard) and Center Pointe Drive. All vehicles and witnesses were traveling southbound on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.

Ms. Hoffman (witness) stated she saw an unknown object fall out of the back of a non-contact Vehicle; a 1989 Chevrolet S10, driven by Michael A. Poole. A scrap passenger side front vehicle door was found lying in the southbound Wilma Rudolph right travel lane.

Ms. Hoffman made an emergency stop to avoid striking the object. A 2002 Ford F150, driven by Peter C. Huff, stopped behind Ms. Hoffman’s vehicle. Christopher B. Pease, who was driving a 2011 Kawasaki Motorcycle, attempted to stop by applying the motorcycle’s front brakes. This caused Mr. Pease to be launched forward off the motorcycle and onto the roadway surface.

Mr. Pease and his motorcycle then continued southbound until they struck Mr. Huff’s Ford F150 in the rear end. This resulted in very minor damage to the Ford F150, but caused serious injuries to Mr. Pease and damage to his Kawasaki Motorcycle.

Alexander Trent Miller, who was driving a 2009 Yamaha Motorcycle, laid his motorcycle down on the roadway surface in order to avoid striking Mr. Huff’s Ford F150. This resulted in Mr. Miller striking only the roadway surface, which resulted in injuries.

Mr. Pease was the owner of both motorcycles. The Yamaha Motorcycle did not have insurance on it at the time of the crash. Mr. Pease was cited for failure to use reasonable care and for financial responsibility.

Mr. Miller was cited for failure to use reasonable care.

Mr. Poole, in his Chevrolet S10, left the scene without providing any information. Contact was later made with Mr. Poole and he stated he was in front of the crash, but was not involved. He also denied any knowledge of the scrap vehicle door in the roadway.

Mr. Pease and Mr. Miller, both motorcycle drivers, were transported by EMS to Gateway Medical Center.

There is no further information at this time.
