Clarksville, TN – Defending Tennessee state champion South Nashville opened its title defense, July 20th at Griff Schmittou Field, with a 10-0, no-hit victory versus Morristown American in the 2014 12-year old Little League State Tournament.
South Nashville came out swinging in the bottom of the first inning; they recorded nine hits in scoring 10 runs.
Barrett Smith and Robert Hassell opened the inning with back-to-back singles and an out later scored on back to-back singles by Blake Money and Cade Reynolds.

Garrett Justice followed with an RBI single and Brian Garcia forced in a run by drawing a base on balls.
Starting their second time through the lineup, Smith drove in a run with a single, while Hassell cleared the bases with a grand slam home run.
Hassell went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and four RBIs.
Sam Slaughter made it back-to-back home runs with a solo shot to center field to make it 10-0 after one inning of play.
Those 10 runs would be more than enough for the defending state champions, as they used four pitchers in hold Morristown American to just two base runners in the contest – Christian Henry being hit by a pitch in the first inning and a walk to Jackson Cole in the fourth inning.
South Nashville will advance to the winner’s bracket semifinals, where they will face Tullahoma on July 21st at 6:00pm.
Morristown American falls into the loser’s bracket and will face the winner of the July 20th Johnson City/Smith County elimination game on July 21st at 6:00pm.
