This weeks highlights include: Riverfest, Riverfest Tour d’Art Receptions & Exhibits, Riverfest 52-Hour Film Festival and Recycled Fashion Show. Riverfest, September 5th and 6th
Riverfest features multiple stages of live entertainment from some of Clarksville’s most talented musicians as well as Saturday night’s headliner, National recording Artist Tracy Lawrence! Everyone’s favorite, the Riverfest Regatta, is back again this year to see who will claim the title of the fastest boat built out of cardboard, duct tape and silicone. The Riverfest Art Exhibit kicks off on Thursday night this year with the Downtown Art Walk and includes two different divisions of art from local talent that you won’t want to miss. New this year is the Riverfest Film Festival, a chance for both novice and expert film makers to showcase their talents on the big screen using predetermined lines and props in their seven minute movies. For more information on all of these great events and more, visit www.clarksvilleriverfest.com Riverfest Tour d’Art Receptions & ExhibitsArt enthusiasts are invited to a free reception to explore exciting treasures created by High School, Amateur, Professional, and Senior local artists. Artwork will be juried, and over $2,500 in prizes will be awarded at the following receptions: High School Division: Thursday, September 4th, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at the Customs House Museum Amateur/Professional/Senior Division: Friday, September 5th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Smith-Trahern Mansion Artwork will also be on display Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the Customs House Museum (High School Division), as well the Smith-Trahern Mansion, Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm and Saturday, noon to 5:00pm (Am/Pro/Senior Divison). Riverfest 52-Hour Film FestivalNineteen films will be competing for awards in eight categories. Don’t miss the public viewing and for your chance to vote for the Viewer’s Choice award! Recycled Fashion Show to make its return to RiverfestRiverfest, the two-day music and arts festival scheduled for September 5th and 6th, 2014 at McGregor Park, is excited to announce the return of the popular Recycled Fashion Show, sponsored by Bi-County Waste Management. The show is scheduled to take place Saturday, September 6th, 2014 at 4:00pm in the Adventure Zone, and is intended to educate the general public about recycling in a fun and exciting way. The show is encouraging youth and adults of all ages to get creative and construct fashions made entirely from recyclable materials for a chance to win cash! All fashion show entries may contain only recyclable materials. Interested contestants can visit recpro.cityofclarksville.com for a list of acceptable materials and to pre-register online.
