Four Clarksville High Lady Wildcats reach double figures in rolling past Springfield Yellow Jackets 60-38
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville High School’s girls basketball team used a balanced scoring attack Tuesday, February 3rd at William Workman Gymnasium, placing four players into double figures on its way to defeating Springfield High School 60-38 in a District 10-AAA matchup.
The Lady Wildcats (17-9, 11-2 District 10-AAA) took control of the game quickly, picking up a couple early 3s from Ellie Treanton and Hannah Goins to get out to a 8-2 lead 2:08 into the game.
Goins would finish with 12 points, while Treanton chipped in with 10 points for CHS.

Clarksville, TN – Tyriek Cheatham’s free throw with 24.2 seconds left Tuesday, February 3rd at William Workman Gymnasium, proved to be the difference for Clarksville High School as the Wildcats edged Springfield High School 45-44 and lock up a first-round home game in next week’s District 10-AAA Tournament.
Clarksville High (11-11, 8-5 District 10-AAA), along with Springfield and Northeast High School, entered the night tied for third in the district standings, but the Wildcats victory over the Yellow Jackets earned CHS the tie-breaker over Springfield – having swept the season series — and guaranteeing no worse than a fourth-place finish in 10-AAA.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) requests public assistance in identifying ring found at scene of Burned Body
Nashville, TN – Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are asking for the public’s help in identifying an item found at the scene of a death investigation this week.
At the request of 19th District Attorney General John Carney, TBI Special Agents, in a joint investigation with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a scene where a burned body was found on February 1st.

Clarksville, TN – Junior center Chris Horton, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
In perhaps the best week of a stellar career, Horton averaged 23.0 points – equaling his career-best with 23 points in both games – alongside 14.5 boards and 2.5 blocks for the Govs. The 6-9 big man shot 50 percent from the floor (14-for-28) and 72 percent (18-for-25) from the free-throw line.
Against Morehead State, Horton became the first Gov since Derek Wright in 2008 to get to the free-throw line 20 times in a game – he hit 15 of those on the way to a 23-point, 11-rebound night against the Eagles.
Governor’s plan provides health care coverage to more Tennesseans at no cost to the state
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam this evening addressed a joint convention of the 109th General Assembly as legislators began an extraordinary legislative session to consider his Insure Tennessee plan.
The proposal, a two-year pilot program to provide market-based health care coverage to more than 250,000 Tennesseans who currently don’t have access to health insurance or have limited options, does not create any new taxes for Tennesseans and will not add any state cost to the budget.
