Yellow Creek Baptist Church’s Community Easter Egg Hunt simply a delight

Yellow Creek Baptist ChurchCumberland City, TN – Yellow Creek Baptist Church held their annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 26th, 2016. Registration started at 9:00am and the Easter Egg hunt began just after 10:00am.

The Easter Egg hunt was divided into three divisions: Pre-K, K-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade. 10,000 eggs filled with candy were scattered between the three fields. Each division also had 200 eggs with tickets. Each child that registered got a ticket. Those tickets make them eligible for the door prizes.

“We have done this ever since 2009. A community wide Easter egg hunt,” stated Brother Phillip Chambers, Senior Pastor. ” We are glad to do this. We are always tickled to have a big crowd down here at the creek.”

“We have found that the parents are really appreciative of a very safe place for their children. Where they know the candies going to be good and they know it’s going to be a good environment. They also like the fact that we have it separated by age divisions. That way, a 2 year old that is barely walking is not out there with a 5th grader,” said Chambers.

“The kids were just like a vacuum cleaner out there picking up those eggs,” commented Chambers.

After the easter egg hunt was over, the kids opened up their eggs finding candy and hopefully tickets. The tickets were turned in, according to their age group, and placed in a basket. Each age group had a bicycle for the grand prize, a scooter, a pogo stick, Easter baskets and other prizes.

I have had so many parents come up and thank us for doing this. It went absolutely wonderful and we are just thankful for the opportunity to do this and thankful for everyone that came out.”

“I really loved it out here today,” stated Sydney Hamilton. “It was really fun and fun being with a lot of kids I know. Everyone here was really nice.”

From the smiles on the children’s faces, along with the parents, everyone one had a great time. Tickets were drawn, starting with the youngest group, until all the prizes were handed out. Afterwards, people stayed around talking and enjoying one anothers company.

“Today, it went absolutely wonderful. We are just thankful for the opportunity to do this for the community and thankful for everyone that came out,” said Chambers.

But we had a big crew doing it. So thanks to all the people that worked on that. It went great,” stated Chambers. “I want to also say thanks to all the people who were out here at 8:00am helping us hide eggs and putting all the stuff out.”

“We are glad to do this for the community and tickled for everyone to come. I want everyone to know they are welcome to worship with us anytime at Yellow Creek,” said Chambers.
