Nashville Predators drop home contest against Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators were flat tonight and the Toronto Maple Leafs took full advantage, defeating the Predators 5-2 at Bridgestone Arena.

Another sell-out crowd watched Auston Matthews and his team put an old fashioned whipping on the favored Predators, where Nashville had their fifteen game point streak end with the loss. 

The Predators are 14-1-1 over the last 16 games. They find themselves now tied with the Tampa Bay Lightning with 106 points for the NHL lead.

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – A midseason matchup between the top two teams in the Ohio Valley Conference will unfold this weekend when Austin Peay’s baseball team travels to Tennessee Tech for a three-game series, Friday-Sunday, at Bush Stadium in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Due to inclement weather forecast this weekend, the series opener has been moved to a 1:00pm, Friday start.

Tennessee Statewide Unemployment Rate Remains Near Historic Low Levels

 

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips today announced statewide unemployment remained near historic low levels in February with the preliminary rate at 3.4 percent.

February’s rate is up just 0.1 of a percentage point from January’s revised rate of 3.3 percent. Over the past 12 months, Tennessee’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased a full percentage point from 4.4 percent to 3.4 percent and remains less than the national average of 4.1 percent.

101st Airborne Division Headquarters to case colors for Afghanistan deployment

 

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Major General Andrew Poppas, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) commander and Command Sergeant Major Todd Sims, 101st Airborne Division senior enlisted leader, will case the division headquarters’ colors, April 3rd, at McAuliffe Hall, in advance of the unit’s next “Rendezvous with Destiny,” a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.

“The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) remains, as it did 75 years ago when it was forged during the maelstrom of World War II, ready to answer the call to fight and win our nation’s wars,” said Poppas, after the Department of the Army announced the Screaming Eagles’ Spring deployment, January 10th. “We know the terrain, we know our partners and we know our mission.”

APSU Softball travels to Morehead State, Eastern Kentucky to begin OVC Matches

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will make the Death Valley trip this weekend to open Ohio Valley Conference play with a pair of doubleheaders versus Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky.

The Govs (15-8) open the weekend with a noon Friday doubleheader at Morehead State followed by a noon Sunday twinbill at Eastern Kentucky to wrap-up the weekend’s action.

Fort Campbell MWR to hold Easter Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31st

 

Fort Campbell's Morale, Welfare and Recreation - MWRFort Campbell, KY – Fort Campbell MWR will be holding an Easter Eggstravaganza Easter Egg hunt on Saturday, March 31st, 2018 from 10:00am until 2:00pm. This free Family friendly event will include egg hunts (by age), a DJ, face painting, and inflatables. Don’t forget your camera – there will be photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny!

The egg hunts are free but MWR does limit the number of spaces to make sure they have enough eggs to hunt for everyone to have an enjoyable experience.

Clarksville-Montgomery County area TDOT Maintenance Work starting March 22nd, 2018

 

Tennessee Department of Transportation - TDOTNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports that in Montgomery County there will be grading, drainage, construction of welded steel plate girder bridge, retaining wall and paving on Highway 149 and Highway 13 from River Road to Zinc Plant Road continuing daily from 9:00am until 3:00pm.

There will be temporary lane closure with flagging operations on Highway 13 for construction of new haul road.
