Agencies applying for APCO certification submit their curriculum, training materials and supporting documentation to be checked for compliance with American National Standards.

“This is a great achievement for Clarksville Police and Fire Dispatch and the community it serves,” Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts said. “Building a successful agency training program requires commitment, resources and dedication.”

Certification represents months of work by Clarksville police, fire and dispatch officials. CPD’s Sgt. Charles Gill and Assistant Fire Chief Randy Ellis compiled the policies. Cari Jensen, Chaning Jewett, Angee Daniel and Marla Bonner at dispatch assembled the policies, procedures and training materials into eight segmented chapters to meet the APCO standards.

Clarksville recently received its certification plaque at the annual APCO Conference in Baltimore. The City joins just 67 agencies across America that have achieved the APCO certification milestone.
