U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) spoke on the Senate floor yesterday about her Rural Health Agenda, a trio of bills that will make it easier for medical practitioners to serve and treat rural Americans in the communities where they live.

Remarks as Prepared: I am taking the floor today to ask my colleagues for help in protecting the 20% of Americans who live in rural areas, and are in danger of losing, or have lost entirely, access to health care in their communities.

TDOT reports Crash in Shelby County Work Zone Claims Two Lives, Injures Two

 

Tennessee Department of Transportation - TDOTNashville, TN – A crash in a work zone along Interstate 40 in Shelby County early this morning claimed the lives of two Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract employees and injured a third worker and a Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper.

30 year old Justin Stafford (Salyersville, KY) and 22 year old Jared Helton (Salyersville, KY), both employees of A & A Safety, died at the scene of the crash.

Tennessee Governor Lee to Recognize Five Outstanding Veteran State Employees at Annual Veterans Day Event

APSU Basketball’s Terry Taylor named to Lou Henson Award preseason Watch List

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUBoston, MA – Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball junior Terry Taylor was named to the 2019-20 Lou Henson Award Preseason Watch List, announced Wednesday.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the nation’s top Division I mid-major player. The award honors Henson, the former Illinois and New Mexico State coach who won 775 games in 41 seasons.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation to hold Handmade Holiday, November 9th-10th

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will host Handmade Holidays, a two-day, indoor juried craft market featuring more than 60 of the best local and independent artists, designers and crafters.

The eighth annual Handmade Holidays will be from 9:00am to 4:00pm, Saturday, November 9th and from noon to 4:00pm, Sunday, November 10th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

Shoppers can expect to find seasonal décor, ceramics, woodworking, metalwork, apparel, jewelry, soaps, toys, fabric crafts, candies, edibles, children’s accessories and more.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation charge Douglas Talley in 2001 Paris Murder Case

 

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationParis, TN – Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) Special Agents have obtained indictments in connection to an 18-year-old homicide case.

On June 8th, 2001, the Paris Police Department responded to a home at 322 Rison Street in Paris, where investigators found Etta Etheridge (DOB: 4/6/29) inside unresponsive. Her death was ruled a homicide.

At the request of 24th District Attorney General, over the years that followed, TBI Agents and investigators from the Paris Police Department conducted an extensive joint investigation.

Clarksville Transit System’s Paul Nelson named Director

 

Clarksville Transit SystemClarksville, TN – Clarksville Transit System (CTS) senior manager Paul Nelson, who has served as Interim Director since July, has been selected as CTS Director, Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts announced.

“Paul has been involved in many aspects of our CTS operation for several years, and he stepped up and did a fine job as Interim Director,” Mayor Pitts said.
