Marsha Blackburn, Chris Van Hollen Lead Resolution Condemning Turkey’s Crackdown on Free Speech

 

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – Today, Tuesday, November 12th, 2019, U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) introduced a resolution condemning Turkey’s crackdown on dissent related to its incursion into northeast Syria and broader freedom of speech violations.

“The Turkish government’s actions raise serious concern that it is using criticism of military operations as a pretext to further crush dissent and inflict fear,” said Senator Blackburn.

Tennessee Vols Basketball rolls in second half to 82-63 win over Murray State

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Behind a career-high 26 points from Jordan Bowden, Tennessee extended its nation-leading home win streak to 28 games with a 82-63 win over Murray State on Tuesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena.
 
In addition to his career-best mark in points, Bowden hit a career-high six three-pointers, finishing 6-for-8 from beyond the arc. For the second consecutive game, Yves Pons set a new career-best in points with 19.

Montgomery County Hunters Can Feed Hungry This Holiday Season

 

Tennessee Wildlife FederationNashville, TN – With deer season in full swing and the holidays quickly approaching, Tennessee Wildlife Federation’s Hunters for the Hungry program is accepting donations in Montgomery County to help feed local families in need. Statewide, more than 75 processors are collecting donations to feed fellow Tennesseans.

Bennell, a native of Turners Beach, Tasmania, Australia,  was named Newcomer of the Week in her first week in the OVC.

Montgomery County has been awarded Emergency Food, Shelter Funds

 

United Way Of Greater ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Montgomery County has been awarded $28,209 in federal funds made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) / Federal Emergency Management Agency under Phase 36 of the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.

The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the U. S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency. 

Funds are available for Montgomery County emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies.
