APSU Women's BasketballMurray, KY – Squaring off against the Ohio Valley Conference’s top offensive team, it was the Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball teams defense that won the battle, as the Governors forced 26 turnovers and recorded 17 steals en route to a 64-60 win at Murray State, Saturday, in the CFSB Center.

Marsha Blackburn Bill to Improve VA Caregiver Program Heading to President Donald Trump’s Desk to be Signed into Law

 

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R—Tenn.) and Gary Peters (D—MI) applauded the House passage of their bipartisan bill to improve the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) caregiver program.

The Transparency and Effective Accountability Measures for (TEAM) Veteran Caregivers Act, now goes to the President’s desk to be signed into law. The legislation would take a number of steps to strengthen transparency and communication for veterans and caregivers participating in the program.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee (4-1) closes out the fall portion of the 2020-21 schedule with a Sunday home matinee vs. UNCG (1-6).

The Lady Vols and Spartans will meet at 11:02pm CT in Thompson-Boling Arena.

Sunday’s game will mark the first time these programs have met since 1976. 

Tennessee enters Sunday’s tilt with a boost of confidence, as Kellie Harper‘s squad went to Bloomington and took down the Big Ten favorites, the No. 15/15 Indiana Hoosiers, on their own court on Thursday afternoon, 66-58.

Tennessee Vols Football loses at home 34-13 to #5 Texas A&M Aggies

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee Vols Football got touchdown passes from Harrison Bailey and J.T. Shrout in the first half, but the Vols were unable to keep pace in falling 34-13 to fifth-ranked Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium.
 
Bailey, a true freshman, had a 33-yard touchdown pass on the game’s opening drive and finished the day 6-of-6 for 85 yards. Redshirt sophomore J.T. Shrout added a 46-yard strike with a sensational catch by redshirt sophomore wide receiver Cedric Tillman in the second quarter and ended the game 6-of-14 for 104 yards. Tillman led all UT receivers with 61 yards on two catches.

101st Airborne Division Soldiers receive Honors above Army-Wide Rate

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) recently completed Expert Infantryman Badge and Expert Soldier Badge training and testing, during which the division performed above the Army-wide benchmark for both awards.

The 101st Airborne Divison’s pass rate for the ESB was 25 percent. Army-wide pass rates hover between 12 to 18 percent, according to the ESB test management office, with statistics updated as new training events are conducted.

EIB pass rates also outperformed the average, at 27 percent. Average EIB rates are similar to ESB rates.

Montgomery County Health Department announces changes to Schedule, Procedures at Civitan Park COVID-19 Testing Site

 

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Beginning the week of December 21st, 2020 the Montgomery County Health Department will make changes to its schedule and procedures for COVID-19 Coronavirus testing at Civitan Park.

Drive-thru testing will continue to be administered by the health department staff on Tuesdays and Thursdays only from 9:00am to 2:00pm.
