APSU Women's GolfMurray, KY – A trio of top-20 finishes, including a top-five showing from sophomore Meghann Stamps, has Austin Peay State University women’s golf eying a third top-five finish in its last four tournaments, this one at the Murray State Invitational at Miller Memorial Golf Course.

APSU has 37 Student-Athletes achieve perfect 4.0 GPAs in Spring Semester

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – A department-record 37 student-athletes earned 4.0 grade-point averages during the Spring 2015 semester, the Austin Peay State University athletics department announced Wednesday.

Those 37 student-athletes were among 159 named to the Spring 2015 Athletics Director’s Honor Roll, representing more than half (52.3 percent) of the department’s student-athletes.

In addition, 83 student-athletes were named to Austin Peay’s dean’s list. The department finished both the spring semester and 2014-15 academic year with a 2.88 GPA.

Austin Peay State University Athlete of the Week Logan Gray

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Sophomore infielder Logan Gray, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Gray homered four times last week, including three in back-to-back-to-back innings during Sunday’s Ohio Valley Conference series finale at Southeast Missouri, leading the Govs to a 2-2 record on the week. Overall, he hit .316 (6-for-19) with five runs scored and 11 RBI.

Eric Jinnette, Reagan Greene add names to illustrious list of Hank Miles Jr. winners

 

GolfClarksville, TN – Some of the best junior golfers in Clarksville have put their names on the Hank Miles Jr. Championship Cup — as the winners of the city’s junior city amateur tournament — and Eric Jinnette and Reagan Greene added their names to that list, June 19th, with one-stroke victories at Swan Lake Golf Course.

Jinnette, who will be a junior at Clarksville High School this fall, shot a final round one-under 70 to overcome a five-stroke deficit to Wildcat teammate Payton Williams (69-76=145) and finish with a two-day total of two-over par 144 (74-70).

Clarksville Academy’s Bailey Foote posts top-25 finish at TSSAA State Cross Country Championships

 

Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA)Nashville, TN – Clarksville Academy girls cross country runner Bailey Foote posted the best finish among local runners, at the 2013 TSSAA State Cross Country Championship November 2nd, at Percy Warner Park Steeplechase Course, with a 22nd place finish.

Foote, who was competing in the girls A/AA division, finished the 5K event in 20:56.69 – just under two minutes behind the race winner, Claudia Smith (18:57.31) from Central Magnet High School. «Read the rest of this article»

Clarksville Academy’s Anna Michelle Moore posts career best fourth-place finish at TSSAA State Golf Championships

 

Clarksville Academy CougarsManchester, TN – Clarksville Academy senior Anna Michelle Moore wasn’t able to move up the leaderboard, October 2nd at the WillowBrook Golf Club, in the final round of the 2013 TSSAA Class A-AA State Golf Championships; but she did post a career best fourth-place finish in the event.

Making her fourth straight appearance in the state finals, this year’s finish bested Moore’s tie for sixth place finish as a junior, seventh place finish as a sophomore – both coming for Clarksville Academy — while her freshman year she was 31st overall at the AAA state tournament playing for Rossview High School.

Clarksville Academy’s Anna Michelle Moore tied for fourth at TSSAA State Golf Championships

 

Clarksville Academy CougarsManchester, TN – Clarksville Academy senior Anna Michelle Moore sit in a tie for fourth place, five shots back, after the first round of the 2013 TSSAA Class A-AA State Golf Championships, October 1st at the WillowBrook Golf Club.

Moore, who is making her fourth straight appearance in the state championship and third straight for Clarksville Academy, shot a six-over par 78 and is tied with Knoxville Grace’s Blythe Scrivner – five shots back of the leader Sophia Schubert from Christian Academy of Knoxville.

Hunter Richardson, Alexa Rippy lead after opening round of Hank Miles Junior City Amateur

 

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Hunter Richardson and Alexa Rippy each hold one-shot advantages, in their respective divisions, after the opening round of the 2013 Hank Miles Junior City Amateur – being held at Swan Lake Golf Course.

In the Boys 18-hole Division, Richardson fired a two-over 73 to lead Payton Williams by one shot, after he carded a first-round three-over 74.
