Grand Total of 565,548 Take in a Game at First Tennessee Park, Most in the Past 25 Years

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – First Tennessee Park opened its gates for the final time on Thursday night, as the Sounds hosted Fan Appreciation Night and the Round Rock Express, falling 8-3.

The crowd of 8,938 at First Tennessee Park boosted the yearly total to 565,548 – the most the franchise has had in its last 25 seasons.

Before the beginning of the game, Sounds General Manager Garry Arthur and Sounds field manager Steve Scarsone awarded three Sounds players with year-end trophies.

Nashville Sounds comeback late to beat Round Rock Express, 6-5

 

Trevor Bayless Earns First Triple-A Win

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Trailing 5-1 at stretch time, the Nashville Sounds rallied to defeat the Round Rock Express, 6-5 at First Tennessee Park on Wednesday night.

After Sounds starter Nate Long pitched himself out of jams in the first two frames, the Express finally broke through in the third. Drew Robinson reached on a fielder’s choice and then stole second base. He then scored off an opposite field single by top prospect Nomar Mazara. Ryan Rua hit a solo homer an inning later to make it 2-0.

The Express kept it rolling an inning later, putting two more runs up on Long and then loading the bases with one out in the sixth. The right-hander then got Robinson to groundout to Max Muncy who threw home for the force. Next Long got Mazara to flyout to left, leaving the bases loaded.

Nashville Sounds pummeled 12-5 at Tacoma Rainiers

 

Rangel Ravelo and Tyler Ladendorf Both Hit Their First Home Runs In Loss

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – The Sounds blasted two early home runs but fell short in Thursday’s series opener at Cheney Stadium, losing 12-5 to the Tacoma Rainiers.

Nashville had Brad Mills slated to make the Thursday evening start, but reliever Dan Otero stepped in to make a spot-start instead. The right-hander had not allowed a run in his last 19 innings of work dating back to June 19th, but had Tacoma plate four runs in his second and final inning of the start. Shawn O’Malley delivered the big blow, a two-out, three-run homer to help the Rainiers to an early 4-1 lead.

Nashville Sounds out hit Reno Aces for 7-4 win

 

All Nine Sounds Hitters Record a Hit, Cody Martin Notches Quality Start

Nashville SoundsReno, NV – The Nashville Sounds hit parade continued on Tuesday night as they out-slugged Reno 7-4 at Aces Ballpark.

The first inning began how many opening frame have started this season for Nashville, the red-hot Joey Wendle smacked his 37th double of the season and came around to score on a Jason Pridie single. The outfielder became the first Sound to hit the 80 RBI plateau on the play.

Reno immediately answered, getting a run on a sacrifice fly by Jamie Romak. The Aces would load the bases, but Sounds’ starter Cody Martin struck Todd Glaesmann out swinging to leave them loaded. Nashville is now outscoring their opponents 80-50 in the opening frame this season.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds fell 6-0 to the Albuquerque Isotopes in game one of Thursday night’s doubleheader, but got revenge in the nightcap winning 3-1 at First Tennessee Park.

Roger Bernardina and Tom Murphy hit back-to-back doubles down the left field line to give the Isotopes a 1-0 lead in the second inning of game one, before Sounds starter Cody Martin got Angelys Nina to groundout for the second out of the second inning.

Doubleheader To Take Place Thursday Starting At 6:05pm

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Wednesday night’s game between the Nashville Sounds and Albuquerque Isotopes at First Tennessee Park has been postponed due to rain. The game will be made up on Thursday (August 20) as part of a doubleheader that will begin at 6:05pm.

Gates will open at 5:05pm for the doubleheader, and the first 7,000 fans to the game will receive a Sounds t-shirt celebrating the inaugural season at First Tennessee Park, presented by the park’s Founding and Platinum sponsors. Game two will commence approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Memphis Redbirds won The Tennessee Lottery I-40 Cup with an 11-2 victory over the Nashville Sounds in front of 8,401 fans at First Tennessee Park on Sunday night.

Dean Anna led the contest off with a double and from there the hits just kept coming for Memphis. The Redbirds tagged Sounds starter Brad Mills for a season-high seven runs, chasing him after four plus innings. Dan Johnson and Tommy Pham led the way for the Redbirds, combining to go 5-for-6 with three runs and four RBI off the Sounds southpaw, as Memphis took an 8-0 lead after five.

Nashville Sounds hand Memphis Redbirds 4-1 loss at First Tennessee Park

 

Standing Room Only Crowd Of 11,043 Marks Third-Largest At First Tennessee Park

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Sounds jumped all over the Redbirds early on Saturday night and held on for a 4-1 victory in front of a sellout crowd of 11,043 at First Tennessee Park.

The packed house was the 17th sellout in the inaugural season at First Tennessee Park. The win gives Nashville an 8-7 lead in The Tennessee Lottery I-40 Cup series with the final game set for tomorrow evening.

The home team put up a two spot on the scoreboard in the first inning courtesy of their third home run of the series. Jake Smolinski took his turn trotting around the bases when he stayed back on a John Gast changeup and just cleared the right field wall. Joey Wendle scored on Smolinski’s seventh home run during Triple-A play this season and the Sounds were off to a 2-0 lead.

Nashville Sounds beat Omaha Storm Chasers 8-6 in Extra innings Thriller

 

Nashville Sounds Bullpen Tosses 7 2/3 Scoreless Innings In Series Finale

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NB – Ryan Roberts had a big day at Werner Park on Tuesday afternoon, blasting his second home run of the game to lead off the 12th inning and helping propel Nashville to an 8-6 win over Omaha.

The victory allowed the Sounds to take three of four from Omaha, marking their first series win since the end of June. The four hour and 10 minute game was Nashville’s sixth win in 13 extra-inning contests this season.

Roberts played hero for the Sounds with his solo shot to start the 12th. It was the designated hitter’s fourth home run of the series and his fourth RBI of the game.

Aaron Kurcz, R.J. Alvarez Star, Hurl 4.1 Scoreless Out of Pen

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NB – Nashville scored a run in the eighth and two in the ninth, coming from behind to beat the Omaha Storm Chasers 5-3 at Werner Park on Monday night.

Brett Eibner and Omaha got on the scoreboard first when the Storm Chasers left fielder took Cody Martin deep in the second inning, tallying his 16th home run of the campaign. The home team would then extend their lead to 3-0 on a Francisco Pena two-run double a couple innings later.

Nashville began to chip away at the lead in the fifth. Andy Parrino and Bryan Anderson reached base and Niuman Romero came to the dish.
